Beast Wars character names

Recommended Posts

I just watched a few of my Beasties tapes and noticed this about how they named themselves.

Firstly, it would appear that Cheetor, Rattrap and Rhinox used different names before they got their beast forms. Only because they seem to just make up their names at that point, and in fact, introduce themselves to each other. It would also appear that Optimus Primal was only known as Optimus before hand.

And about Inferno, it seems that Megatron actually named him that.... although I may be thinking of a different character, but Megatron does indeed name somebody.

I can just imagine the writers sitting around thinking, "'Cheetor'? 'Waspinator'? Who the hell comes up with these names? *sigh* oh well, better work 'em into the story somehow...."

He doesn't name Inferno, Inferno just used the name straight after activating('Spiders, here to invade the colony, Inferno Terrorize')

I think Primal's name is interesting because its his original identity, but suits his beast mode

I try not to actually think about TF names too much. "Optimus Primal" is hella ghey in the same way "Rodimus Prime" is. I think Blackarachnia has the least ghey name of anyone in BW/BM, but it's still kinda funny.

I did at the time and still do today think that it was really ingenious of them to name him that. It kept up w/ the continuity, but moved on to a new series. The original Optimus Primal is still one of my all time favorite figures (and a not too bad character, better than the last 4 incarnations IMO).

You're kidding, right? "Blackarachnia" is one name that sounds like you are trying to get the phlegm out of your throat everytime you say it.

The Protoforms didn't have names before crashing, and most of the origional Maximals and Predacons changed thier names

you know what's even gheyer? giving the leader of the predacons the same name as the leader of the decepticons even tho they are completely different people.
