Why is Rebirth so hated?

Recommended Posts

BTW, was there anything in Beast Machines that made specific references to Rebirth, i.e. the "second golden age of Cybertron" that happened at the end of Rebirth?

Primal used the Plasma Energy Chamber, but sense JPN G1 takes place on the same Cybertron...

Had a feeling that it was mentioned - I just wasn't sure if the Cybertron was the same one or that it was in a different reality/universe.

There were no references to the Golden Ages, but the Plasma Energy Chamber does come into play. And it does the exact same thing that it did in G1.

In order to recreate those dynamics, the Throttlebots would have had to be given more than one line apiece. And it would have helped if they had told us all their names too.

The Throttlebots were introduced in "The Return of Optimus Prime." They all had something to say and now come to think of it, they were the minispies....

"Throttlebots, transform!" is not what I would call an introduction

but meh

No, "The Return of Optimus Prime" the Throttlebots were engaged in a conversation with each other. Pretty funny lines.

You're high. The only time they ever chatted is in Rebirth when they were all "rolling out" to meet the Decepticons. BTW the line I referenced was from TRoOP.

Hmmm. Maybe I AM high....

All I remember is that Hasbro told Ultra Magnus to do a ROBOT ROLL CALL.

It was more a group roll-call actually. Had the commerical.. err episodes been allowed to last longer I think better introductions could have been done.

The Throttlebots were already seen in The Return Of Optimus Prime with Goldbug getting a generous amount of screentime. I think the writers had orignally planned to return the Bumblebee character to the "active" roster.

I really liked Bumblebee so I did not mind that even if he was techinally going to be Goldbug.

A couple of "witty" American punchlines isn't enough to salvage Rebirth for me. I still much prefer The Headmasters. And no, Daniel would never get mauled by Snapdragon in that series, 'cos Sixshot would PWN Snapdragon for it! The Headmasters is also the only TF story written anywhere.. ever... where a battle scene occurs in Australia. Hurrah! :P It's also our capital! Hurrah! I like to imagine Bob Hawke watching the fight from Parliament House and Blotting his pants... *teehee* :D

The new charactes introduced in The Headmasters had far more substance than in The Rebirth. As I explained before, Sixshot was quite a complex and tragic character. Nearly as tragic as BW Rampage, only not so emo. Chromedome also had a really interesting back story... the flashback to his best friend dying was pretty well written IMO.

And The Headmasters had other cheesy gimmicks that made it cooler than Rebirth (IMHO) - such as gestalts with lightsabres and let's face it, Fortress Maximus' transformation sequence in The Headmasters just does major pwnage all over Rebirth Fort Max's! If that sequence had been animated by Filmation, it could sound like this:

"Hi. I am Fortress, Commander of the Autobots and defender of the secrets of Senkan Maximus. This is Chromedome, my fearless friend. Fantastic powers were revealed to me the day I held aloft my Master Sword and said, "BY THE POWER OF GRAYSK--, uh, OF CYBERTRON!! I HAVE THE PAWAAAAAA!!"

The only thing that Rebirth has over The Headmasters, is that Arcee retains her role as an Autobot warrior and doesn't become a non-combatant bridge-bunny. Booo, bad sexist role-modelling! But on the plus side, Japanese Arcee never gets bonded to Daniel... man... either way Arcee gets screwed over. :P

But....does Rampage ever actually harm Daniel?

Nope.

He would have if a train didn't crash into him

What's funnier is that an electric train, with no powerline or rails to run on, appears out of nowhere and rams a giant bison.

not to mention it actually bends.

plus, it's RiD railspike.
