This would be cool but you know Hasbro would use some of the old names to keep the rights and what not.

Same universe diff time, none of the chars, none of the SHADOWS of the chars, none of the old plots.. yes.

I'm more concerned about it being just Transformers though.  No half-assed to-be-retconned explanations for animal modes/themes.  No doofy plot gimmicks about funky energy.  As said, no gimmicks of any kind.  Instead of the same repeated old plots + new gimmicks, I'd like to see just new plots + NO gimmicks.

back in the day, "transforming robots" was the gimmick that sold the show. FWIW

No offense, but the restart provided by Armada was the reason TF became popular again. It might not have sold well with the fans, but in the general scheme of things, every now and again a restart means an oppertunity for new public to jump in.

It should and can be that way with any series. Starting over doesn't have to mean pitching continuity.

i dont know op and megs i think are essential theyve just been ruined i feel. i think we just need to go backwards to g1 style with more dynamic characters with depth where everything has a purpose and humans only appear if they have a real use like spike beeing a reaonable mechanic and helping with maintenance and chip who could help the autobots get any info they needed military, classified or weird

I agree. But with TFs, we're talking about a franchise spanning multiple decades. The reason most cartoons have a lifespan of only a few seasons is because there is a certain border of continuity, which, when crossed, makes that you can't do anything interisting with the character. And especially with action-cartoons, you can't keep telling the same story over and over again with the same characters in the same situation over and over again. Hence, every once in a while, a restart might actually rejuvinate a franchise. Sadly, at this moment, Transformers seems to be going the way of Power Rangers, with a new group each year. If you ask me, that isn't a good development.

I think something set in one of the estabilshed continuities, GF/Cybertron, or G1, doesn't really matter which me jsut as long its in the same world, but only barely tied to it.

Imagine a series devoted to a smaller exploration team, far away from home, away from Optimus and Megatron.  A new leader, and all new characters, exploring new worlds.  Have a small team of Decepticons following/hunting the Autobot team, then add in a few other enemies and allies from the different worlds they discover.  Not neccessarily other transformers, simply new alien life forms.

Think Stargate/ST Voyager/Transformers.  But with only the good parts of each.:)

No, Beast Wars was the reason Transformers became popular again.

Transfandom was already very much alive and kicking by time Armada came along. When BW came along, Transformers was dying... Generation 2 was failing miserably.
