Why do humans never get killed in TFs?

Recommended Posts

Let's be honest, how many of us didn't cry at Prime's death the first time we saw the movie?  Odd that because when you see Tom and Jery and see how much cartoon violence there is in that, there's never any tears of unhappiness, just tears of laughter.

Tony.

There's a difference between cartoon violence which doesn't bring about death and the type of violence where characters die from it.

And there's also a difference between stuff that's supposed to be funny and stuff that's supposed to be serious.

BTW I didn't cry when I saw Prime die... then again I was 14 at the time and I already knew it had happened.

Heck, I was 13 at the time and a tear came out of my left eye. :tfsad

It's a pity that having Prime die has become pretty common in the TF cartoons now, once is fine enough, but it was a bad idea to bring him back since now he dies and then comes back.  How can that be good for kids?  What if they kill their pet or brother or sister to see if they'll come back from the dead?  Kids learn from example after all.  If there's going to be violence and death in cartoons, they should show that it doesn't help to be violent since it only causes more problems than it does prevent them and that when someone dies, they stay dead and not even Dallas can bring them back.

And you don't think it's a bad idea for kids to see cartoons where people get drilled in the head?

Jesus brings back Prime every time.

a character returning from the dead in tf was only really handled well was in BM Imo.

It's the same with swearing, by the age of 13 most children have heard most of the swear words on tv anyway

you know, i don't think that cartoons have to be overtly gory and violent, just more mature. Batman: TAS was a perfect example of a cartoon that was more mature without being a big gorefest.

Maybe you just mean "intelligently written". That I can definitely agree with. But I do think that kids' cartoons in general are waaaaay better now than they were in the 80's. It was a particularly grim time for animation.

well, the animation quality certainly has improved the the writing is still so-and-so.
