I like Ricochet (though it'd be better if they just did a Meister repaint), and release Red alert darn it.

There is a serious problem with HasTak.  Do they think these recolour will sell?  Or they just make them like Swerve which is so short of production which makes the demand *high*  :wtf

Hey, which mold does not have repaint yet, why don't they issue a series of repaint and sell them as a package.  Since those who buy them are mostly for the sake of completing the collection.

I believe Hasbro's using these repaints as a way of getting toys on the shelves that represent molds that people new to Alternators may have missed the first time around.  At Botcon they mentioned that they don't set out to create lines where people collect every single figure, they honestly think that all of the OCD fanboys will be able to resist these new molds.

While this approach makes some sense with the Subaru, which hasn't been readily available for almost a year, the Jeep choice is odd considering that Swindle has been so common over the past year evertime I flush a toilet I expect to see a Swindle pop-up amongst the back-flow.

Well, that explains.  But if someone new to TF bought these repaint and decided to collect the past issues, they will for sure find it lame.

i am totally unimpressed.

they could at least for richochet have used the mazda mold

Agreed. That's like a total WTF?!!

i hate primes shoulders... so RID ish...

Actually, they remind me of the G2 Spychanger version of Prime.  I guess that's why I don't think of it as much of a change and welcome it with open arms. :clap

I understand your explination of Hasbro's actions Trench,

A part of our (collectors) fustration with repaints maybe motivated by egocentric ideaology...we collectors want to believe that Hasbro is making these things for us. Else we would always get unique molds (totally new..not just the head).

But the much larger market are those that are not collectors. We see kids and parents grabing all kinds of transformers off the shelves driven at the very least by facination. we collectors use fascination only as a spark and our collector ideals is the accelerant..and we keep on coming back. Those other buyers just buy one or two and move on.

Sigh..they are not making these entierly for us...therefore they repaint the existing mold to move the product..add some basic uniquness while saving at ton of cash in reseach and development....that us collectors want them to spend on desperately.

As a collector i get annoyed with repaints...well if there is more than two...feel like we are  getting ripped off. But to Hasbro it is just good buisness practice because there is just enough change to make us want it...and any slight change will attact the larger market regardless.s

I say..if they want allow people the chance to purchase the pre-existing molds..then release the old product. Give us new!

But it will not work that way. We are on pace for 4 repaints to each mold

4 corvettes (yellow blue tracks, swerve, ravage), tons of suberu's, now three jeeps.

Well this is long. And i not sure if i said anything. anyways..

PS. Who is rollbar?

i can't even find decepticharge or prowl.

Why isn't Ricochet's head replaced with meisters? .... that would make sense. unless it is and i can't tell by that pic, but it looks like smokescreens to me.

redeco prime into soundwave for fun.

and throw out rollbar

those are my thoughts.

I think the R&D expense is probably a major driver for the repaints, I'm glad you brought it up.

The complexity of the BT/Alts and the extra expense in securing licenses from the manufacturs has to make them more expensive to produce than the average $20 Voyager sized figure.  Factor in the lower sales volumes and you have a recipe for a line that has to have a number of repaints to remain viable.  Making them slightly different (instead of just reissuing the old ones) might rope in someone who may already previously passed on a mold, but happens to like the toy's new paint scheme, as well as the aforementioned OCD completists, like me.  :redface

They should of made a little driver that turned into a targetmaster for Ricochet. Then he would be worth getting, but I might still get him just to do that. Probably will get Rollbar just to use the head for turning Prime into Trailbreaker.

I like Ricochet but I don't think I'd treat him as that character. Maybe I'll call him Blackstreak. Just as long as the stickers come unapplied. I didn't even put the sticker on swerve. I was saving it for tracks. I hope they do one of each mold in black eventually

Rollbar is just a waste of plastic but I'll probably still buy him

Optimus looks cool but I'd rather see that mold as a different character

very cool
