What's everyone see in BW?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I'm not trying to be a sh*t, but what the heck is the appeal of these things?

They look like ass in alt mode and look like *DOUBLE ASS* in robot mode! What the heck do people see in them?!?!?!

All the hubub about the BW 10th Anniversary releases is leaving me wondering whether there's a gigantic legion of people who actually find the molds appealing.

Was it the show?

What is it, 'cause I really find about 95% of all the beast-formers to be hideous compromises.

first off the show was heads above and beyond anything the TF series' have presented in writing, animation, and acting -before or since.

The first season molds are adequate at best... but really i think the figures shine when they started doing Transmetals.  Look at TM rattrap! for example.

I also question the logic behind releasing these molds... but I'm definitely getting the TMRattrap. and definietly want to see the new Leader molds - mosltly T-rex Megatron.

If you havent seen the series - you must!

but yeah these figures are kidna meh....

For some like me there what brought me back to collecting, and the show rocks.

and lastly some people like the bots, like me, its kind of like you liking TF but its all differant for other people, you may love Armada, and someone else doesn't, it that simple.

have you seen beast wars, it rules..great characters, great story line, great toys

I concur 100%, Beast Wars is the best TF show ever made.  If you look at the G1 cartoon with an objective (non-fanboy) eye, you have to admit - aside from a couple of good episodes, most of it totally sucks.  BW was done with more of a movie feature style:  story complex enough for adults, but with action/humor that makes it appealing to kids.

With regard to the toys, you have to remember - before BW, the Transformers were DONE, dead as the Go-Bots.  Therefore, Hasbro/Kenner didn't want to go crazy and invest too much in the initial BW toys in the case that the whole thing was a complete flop.  However, BW was a major success (both show and toys) and here we are today (I think it's safe to say without the success of BW, TF would most likely be over - no new lines, no MP, no BT/Alts, no anything).

I like BW for the most part not a fan of Transmetals (I do have TM Rattrap...but I am upset at my TM Scourge's Lice (metal flaking)

It's the TV show.

About the toys; I dfind the concept of organic beast-formers more apealing but I think that the Transmetals are the beter toys, I hate the concept of the TM2s

I am not even being judgemental about the "organics"

I just think that the original molds (ie whats being rereleased) were pretty bricktastic...

However - by the time the second season rolled around they had developed ball-joints and whatnot.  So we started getting molds and designs that eventually brought us back to "Car-Robots/RiD"

I'm with you, I hope the show was terrific because the toys look fugly too me, say what you want about the G1 toys, half of these guys dont even have hands from what I've seen.

The show was great, and that's why I like some of the earlier molds.  The later molds are good on their own, like Tigerhawk.

It's not a bad thing to like a toy for the character it represents, either.  Hell, that's why so many people still like G1 toys.  It's not because the piece of plastic so omg awesome, it's because they liked the show as kids.
