Backstop

Recommended Posts

But I like him! Some of you are shocked, especially if you know me, because I've always said I don't buy transformers without knees. However, I picked him up because I have a history of liking toys everybody else absolutely hates.

Backstop is one such toy.

Sure he's blocky, his head doesn't move, he doesn't have any knees, no waist, on arm is a hapless claw like some WWII survivor, and he's only half-way convincing as a Rhino, but I've got to say he's got a certain look about him. He looks immovable, strong, withstanding. I like it whenever they think outside of the box for a toy, and Backstop is like that.

I kinda surprised myself, I figured I'd hate him too. The plastic even reminds me of happymeal toys. But there's just something about him I like. Definitely a 'former I have on my shelf. It is kinda fun to make him flip people off, though! :tfevil

I'm actually looking forward to getting ahold of Backstop.  He loooks cool. to say the least.

you guys are weirding me out.....

will you really just buy ANYTHING with a TF logo on it?

I picked him up about a week or so ago, and knew from the get go that he was blocky and had no knees and lacking almost all forms of articulation what so ever.  But I like the little guy, of course he stays in beast mode on my shelf, but it is a cool alt mode.

I like him, he is not the best, and he is not the worse, but between Backstop and undermine (Both of which I have) Backstop is my favorite.

Backstop is going to the back of my C Autobot display, Just like whathisface, the lizard/raptor guy (that I dont take out of Raptor mode any more)

Eh, I wouldn't go so far as to say that. I like Backstop more than Thundercracker or Overide, but Undermine is a sweet bot. I love his alt mode.

And as for if I will buy anything with a TF logo on it, no. I won't. I stated above that I usually don't buy anything without knees, so for me to buy this character, I knew what I was getting into. I bought him with full knowledge of what he was like.

I also picked up Wreckloose, and he's an odd toy a best. I'm still trying to decide whether or not I like him. I'll be honest, it's the clown shoes. They're a throw off. He's got a great alt mode, with crest and without, and he looks intimidating if you leave his legs together. Almost like BM Jetstorm, wasn't it? A Spiked Evil Machine that will F you up.

On top of all that, I grabbed the TRU Starscream/VP two pack, which I haven't opened yet. I'm not liking SS's colors, and I haven't decided what to do with the VP.*

*Maybe I do have a problem. . .

Oh, be nice. You know half of the Optimus Prime worshippers on this board would buy "Mr. Hanky" if the words "Optimus Prime" were slapped on it.

I like Backstop/Saidos, too. I love his asymmetry, and I love how the designers took a bold move on designing a transformation schema that was not done before. Sure, the articulation is not ideal, but considering the way the engineering had to accomodate both mode, I think it's got decent articulation. Pound per pound, this toy is a superior Transformer compared to Cybertron Optimus Prime, whose transformation consists of him sitting down with his arms folded back.

I like him too, I don't know why, but I like him..
