i know the feeling, i'm in a simliar boat where i'm going to have to maybe depend on my fiance (wife when i leave for basic) to get my alts while i'm away in basic training and ait and she knows nothing of tf so i  :clap  you for going the extra mile to get him a nice tf for x-mas :thumb

Hey everyone ! Thank you all so much for your help !!! Everyone has been giving me great ideas and advice. I’ve actually decided to go with a few different figures. Unfortunately, he already has the 20th anniversary Prime. Darn !  I wanted so much to give him the masterpiece prime. I found another Masterpiece that I don’t think he has: The MP-2 Ultra Magnus. Also this BinalTech stuff looks pretty cool, I’d like to get him The Smokescreen BinalTech BT-07. Thanks for all of your help everyone ^_^ . Woo Hoo !

MP-2 is a white repaint of the 20th Anniversary Optimus figure, I would probably pass on this unless he was a big Ultra Magnus fan.

 

The BT-07 Smokescreen is super sweet, though.  This is usually the one I recommend to people to get them started on Binaltech - the paint job is simply incredible. 

Although I'm not crazy about the repaint, if my girl got me Ultra Magnus, I'd cherish that puppy, almost as much as I do Optimus. If he's a decent guy, he'll like it because it's from you, not because he likes the character.

I think the main thing here is your man's taste - some like pvc's and some don't - he may want the reissue galvy and he may not - he may like ALTs instead of BT's - he may not like repaints like MP-02 - I don't - if he does not have the Masterpiece Convoy - I would get him that - I think most people in this forum would agree it is one of the best trans out there - no matter how many trans he gets later - this still will remain one of the best ones ever - U will make the best impression with that one - MP-01 - Convoy.

 

too bad I did not finish the thread and see he has 20th prime - sorry - back to thinking - this is def hard since he has that one - can u sneak a picture of his collection for us - if he is run of he mill nerdo like most of us he has them set out.

also - on galvatron - since the new reissue is coming soon - stay away from it - for sure

MP Ultra Magnus is a great Transformer which I would love to own but is simply too expensive right now as he is only a repaint of Optimus Prime.

 

And I have heard people having quality control issues with him. If I recall correctly the white paint is not always as perfect as it should be.

 

You might want to get him an item that he has been wanting to get himself. That way you will still have something special and you will have saved him money at the same time.

MP Magnus is PERFECT.  Reasons why

 

1.  There are some that can't exactly justify spending $100 on a repaint...BUT would LOVE to have it. So if someone gave it to them instant WOW.

 

2.  Its the perfect book end twin for MP or 100th Prime.

 

3.  It is one of the best TF's ever made, so why not get them all! 

 

4.  In the future, this will probably be the harder of the 3 to come by. 

 

5.  For the average couple if there was ONE TF that someone could get, for $100 that's one of the safest bets.  Takes care of matching spending limits.  Warrants getting jewlery or something equally valued if not more. 

 

I already have one so if my GF is reading this...sorry, stick with BTA Allert or BroadCast, or even the Blue Prowl...  (NOT ALL 3!!!!)

Heck, I have Prime, so Magnus and one of those nice Trailers would be excellent in this TFans book.

I haven't bought the Magnus Yet. I had no idea it was a recolor !!! I don't know if he'll like it or not. But he does have this huge Convoy, with a cute small scale Prime figue that comes with it. I have no idea where he got it. Sigh. I wish he hadn't bought it so that I could have gotten it for him instead. Thanks Again for all your help everyone. ^_^
