I always just thought the purpose of Autobots/Decepticons having any sort of gender was just for the sake of creating different characters, not for the sake of procreation.

Okay as a kid I wondered how they procrated or how two could be related. Now I know it all has something to do with their sparks.   Such as  Tigatron and Airazor.

But please tell me what would  Dobgird(Silverbolt) and Black Arachina accomplish unless their sparks were merged?   Whats with the sexual tension between Hotspot and Overdrive?  Their robots, living, feeling giant robots but they`re not "equiped"

 

Or are they? 

 

In Energon they were shocked to see Arcee,  so if there were or are a small amount of fembots, whats the point of having them?  They can`t have mecha babies.

 

Am I wrong here? Or has it been established that taking a piece of spark from Bot A and Bot B would create the needed information for Bot C?

There is a diference between Sexes and Genders. Cybertronians have eaither  male or female genders, but thats just psychologicly and socialy phisicly there is no diference between them. For Example in Starwars the Hutt species are hermaphaditic, but Jubba still obviously acts male.

I dunno, he kinda reminds me of an ex-girlfriend...

 

Transformers was (let's face it) a show for little boys, so all of the characters had male characteristics (despite being asexual robots that were built rather than born). I still remember the first time they showed female Autobots (no female Decepticons? WTF? ;)) -- I felt a little creeped out by the whole idea. Especially seeing the "romance" between Optimus Prima and Elita-1. I was like "so where is this leading...?" :wtf And I HATED Arcee in TF:TM and beyond.... HATED. I thought the notion of female Autobots was stupid and confusing, and even more so the fact that she was built with secondary sexual characteristics, and was PINK, for goodness' sake. Thankfully they never even tried to explain why a robot would be female (fair enough, I suppose, since they never explained why most of the other robots would be male).

 

For some reason, though, this whole male/female weirdness didn't bother me so much in Beast Wars. I can't explain why. (Maybe it's the fact that the girl robots weren't pink.)

yeah but ba's six eyes really creeped me out. ive made my own conclusions about the whole tf gender thing. ive stated it in a thread before. and it was long and i dont feel like a recap. theyre there just because. and theres no robobabies. good enough for me.
