Here is the last update for the weekend...I'm expecting to complete this piece by next weekend...or shortly thereafter.

 

As far as the sunroof...the good thing is that the roof piece is made of clear plastic...so if I was to remove all of the white paint, and mask a sunroof shaped rectangle off...and paint it red it should be cool...and then I can just get some transparent dark paint, and paint the underside...to give it the glass look...still in the works. However...I also have to fill in the holes left from the lightbar...which might be a pain in the ass...(never worked with resin or epoxy...)

 

Can I put clear plastic in alcohol? It'll cloud up won't it? I guess if I'm careful...

 

I have also taken pics of my license plate, and emblems...so that they are correct...(I have the JDM Type-S emblems on my car now...)

 

That looks great. But can the thing actually transform with Sideswipes head?

As you can see, I haven't chosen a head yet.  I wanted to go with Alternator Sideswipes head...but it just looks so big on Alt Prowl's body...so I'm still looking.

 

I also replaced Prowl's hands with Sideswipes hands.  They even hold Prowl's gun better...

ive been thinking for months that that prowl should have been sideswipe n u go n say that! i say do it! now i really need to get a prowl and do this... great work! love those hid/led lights!

Well, I have ultimately decided to go with this body being Sideswipe's first body...(thanks WRX-78)

 

Then in a battle, Sideswipe gets mauled, and his internals are transferred to a newer faster body based on the Sunstreaker shell...(good thing we are gettign a Sunstreaker)

 

Anyway, Wheeljack, and Ratchet rebuild Sideswipes old body into a being with artificial intelligence like Zoom-Zoom...who proceeds to build a relationship with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker...as their third brother.

 

Along the way the AI adopts the identity of VTEC, and changes his look a little.  (I have two sets of arms planned...the Sideswipe arms...and the VTEC arms...just a little color variation, afterall this is my car, so i want to use my favorite colors a little more - red and black)

 

The transformation should not be a problem with Sideswipe's head...I believe Alex_Kingdom used the Sideswipe head for his Nightbeat custom with excellent results.

Heres a look at my prototype roof with moonroof.  I took the pics with my cell phone...so they aren't up to the quality of my earlier pics...

 

I have two Acura roof pieces...so this one is just the model...I wanted to see if it would work out...and I think it will.

 

First I removed all of the paint from the roof piece.  I then filled in the lightbar mounting holes with a ployester filler.

 

After that I masked a moonroof shape in the roof...its not big enough in my opinion...but it worked.  Not I just have to tint the underside of the roof panel to give it the tinted look, and then I have to paint the remaining border/wipers for the windshield.

 

The problem with this piece is that you can see the holes that I used the filler on...(not in the pics though) they didn't turn out smooth.  So I orded a BT Blue Prowl so I can use the roof without the holes...(no I am not sacrificing an entire BT for just one piece...I'll use a few others for a future kitbash...)

Finished a few more pieces...its been a busy weekend...I really wanted to finish VTEC up...but I didn't have the time I thought I would. 

 

Thanks everyone for looking, and for the kind words!  I know the updates are small, buts its everyone's comments that keep me going!

 

  - Dashboard has a base coat...just have to paint the gauges/radio/shiftboot.

 

  - Also finished the flaps that fold in on the stomach

 

  - I alo swapped in roof piece from a BT Blue Prowl because I didn't like the results of the Alt. Prowl roof.  (So if anyone needs some pieces from a BT Bue prowl...let me know...)

 

  - Painted the forearms in red.

 

  - Printed all of the decals for the license plate/rear bumper/fron bumper/rear side windows/interior

 

 

Quick Update of bot-mode...

 

The upper arms will be changed to black on the final version.

Still have to finish the legs... and parts of the interior.

 

Got Sideswipes head to fit on the Prowl ball-joint...needed a little shaving.

 

I just got done with the new and improved sunroof too...  should have pics by Monday/Tuesday.

Alright...eveything is looking good for completion before Christmas.

 

I just finished painting the light saber blade (Transparent Candy Apple Red) that I am going to be using.  Its from a Gundam toy that was on clearance at K-Mart not too long ago.

 

I also, have to reattach the rear rims, finish tinting the sunroof, and do some spot touch ups.  In particulkar, I had a hard time getting to the inside of the joint where the leg panels open up.  (Need to paint that little hinge black)

 

Decals will be applied soon as well.  Might even finish this weekend.
