its just a matter of removing the white paint.

 

For that, I used Brass-O, which is what I've used in the past on Alternators Wheeljack and Smokescreen to remove the stripes/decals.

 

Heres your answer, Brass-O, I have yet to try this myself. I may give it a try on my next project.

Thats a great idea with the sunroof WRX-78!  I didn't think about that! 

 

Yeah, the roof is clear plastic painted over in white!  (I never even noticed the lack of a sunroof! 

 

In fact none of the Alts have Sunroofs do they?

 

I don't know if they are making the Alts more difficult to diassemble on purpose...but boy are they doing a good job.  I think Prowl consists of more parts than Sideswipe and Smokescreen together!  (and they are small parts too!)

 

The Brass-O works wonders!  Just take a rag, put a little dab of Brass-O on there and rub the paint off with your index finger or thumb.  It takes a while to get all the paint...but it does work.  It even shines the plastic up like a wax!  Just make sureyou wash the part with soap and water before you paint it!

 

I just painted the hood and doors and they should be ready by tomorrow night...thanks everyone!

I was really having trouble with the name...and I had no idea what to call him until I settled on VTEC. 

 

Mazda has their motto "Zoom-Zoom..." and Acura really has no motto...at least not one I can remember...

 

I was actually gonna call him i-VTEC figuring that the character was going to be "intelligent," but I didn't like the ring to it. 

 

I also thought about Squall, which is my screen name for any board I visit, which is adopted from Final Fantasy VIII...but I don't think Squall fits a red sports car.

 

If anyone else comes up with a cool Honda-related name...post it here!

Few ideas:

 

1. I would literally make him Sideswipe's alternate body. The new Type-S system, similar to the Binaltech GT system. Hmmm. Type-S? Type-Sideswipe.

 

2. Make it a female bot. Integra. :)

 

3. Brass-O.

Brass-O huh?  Maybe...hahahaha

 

Thats a good backstory though for Sideswipe...

 

Anyway, here's the pics of the pieces I painted last night.  The hood and doors look awesome in person!  I worked with the firepepper red Krylon Fusion paint before...and it never came out this nice...

This thing is gonna look great. Any thoughts about using a different head ?

You know, if you get the windsheild off you can take off the stearing wheel as well.

 

My only problem I had was the Front end of the car. Those pins are in for good there.

 

If you want to get the window off as well as the councel and steering wheel you need to drill 2 small holes and then pop the pins out at least that's what I did.

I really want to be able to remove the windshield. 

 

In fact the only reason I say this is a difficult mold to work with is because of the main body (front bumper/underbody/interior/windshield piece), and if I could get them apart, that would be great!
