i have an idea on how to better explain the TF's

but nanotechnology cannot form complex machines, at least, not instaneously. it would probably take longer for a tf to reform its body from robot to vehicle than if it was a physical transformation.

depends on what you mean by "complex"

then in that case, imagine if transformers first came out nowadays: they'd be nothing but globs of liquid metal that could form ANYTHING.

(hasbro makes a killing in more ways than one by selling jars of liquid mercury as 'transformers")

well, if a tf was trying to duplicate the appearence of a car, it would take awhile to form the outer visable structure in such minute detail that it would fool a human. the interior cab would need to mimic fabric, leather, and plastic, as well as the digital displays for the clock and radio. also, they'll need moving individual parts and chemicals.

But look at BeastWars - or BM - the protoforms really didnt have any "form" or "Kibble"

The whole Techno-organic concept works much better if you accept Nano-tech.

And where are you getting the idea that Nano-Tech cant create complex machines?

Modern science?  we (at least I am and any discussion of TF-Tech implies) are talking about more advance science than what we have currently.

Just cause T2 (1991?) couldnt do it - that doesnt mean that future applications of it wouldnt.

I think in BW/BM and what i am suggesting - a TF-Protoform would have a slightly neutral nebulous body and once it scanned a new form - then it would "imprint" onto that form.  thus the complex fabrics, digital clocks etc would simply be in memory and not completely created from scratch each time.

This opens up a whole perspective to Tripple changers and Gestalts... no longer is it a matter of having extra joints or connectors - but rather processing speed and the ability to have two different alt modes in "RAM" or whatever....

It also opens up new territory for "Pretenders" (as if BM didnt already do that...) And Mass-Shifting (thoug G1-Megs and Soundwave are still kinda silly)

EDIT: i apologize for Hi-jacking this thread.....

no problem :thumb but a RAM imprint would take up a lot of memory and tf's are basicly immortal so they would need plenty.

Our bodies are already machines, just not metallic ones. We're only using a small percentage of our existing potential.

And Cybertron is ghey.

:grump

So my point is that human "enhancement" by implanting some Borg stuff wouldn't be an enhancement at all. Organic "machines" are light-years beyond any of the stuff we've come up with.

No wonder you like BM so much  :tflaugh

I have to disagree with the mechanical enhancements not being improvements though.  Are night vision googles not improvements over night vision?  Camoflague an improvement over skin?  a rifle better than a fist?

Granted, none of those things can be repaired like a bruise if broken, but they're much easier to replace than hips or knees.

you know, all this talk about tf's morphing and no one's brought up how the G1 cartoon and comic was riddled with example of tf's with "Play-Doh" transformations. this nanotechnology concept would certainly explain this.
