Where did you get a KO white Hound and how much was it?  I just want one of those (though I don't want to sell a liver for a KO). 

I got to say that the new head is alot more effective and looks alot better then the original you intended.

 

Might have to do the same for my own.

 

2 Suggestions though. One, the pearl white of the head looks a little off compared to the white on the rest of that KO. Second, it would resemble Ratchet alot better if you trimmed down the mohawk into a more flat yet rounded surface.

 

Now all you have to do to make it more G1 like is to make a Red version of the jeep, use the same head but take off the head fins, fill in the hole and paint it red as well to make Ironhide. Can't have one without the other no?

 

Great work and ideas man. I just purchased that same KO to make into Megatron since I thought his white head looked alot like em but now I just might have to make my own medic...

Thanks, I think I am going to try for some type to graphics on the door panels, but I have to get that testors decal kit first and figure out how it works... =)  Eventually though I think it'll happen. Maybe if I spot a cheap 1:24 Jeep somewhere with a top I'll check into that too.  Thaks for the compliments though!

Ebay and you should find them ok.  They'll run you as much as a real BT though because there's only 2-3 sellers who carry them. I got mine as part of a Trade from a friend.

Glad you like it TFmaster, coming from you thats a good thing. =)

 

You say new head?  Its still just an unmodified Prowl head...  Thats never changed.

 

As fot the pearl of the head, yeah I notice that too in certain lights, but I probably will leave it for the same reason I won't be doing any trimming to the head either-  I'm not very capable at modifications like that, if I screw the head up I'm toast.  I've only got one, and it came from my BT Prowl... And like I said earlier in the thread I like to do simple changes that that can really work well. =) Hell, I just discovered how great paint markers work (they go on opaque, dry in seconds and are hard to scratch) otherwise I probably wouldn't have painted the hands.  =)  Maybe I'll paint the head.  I do have a white marker.  we'll see.

 

Plus, he's like BTA Red alert- they are all built into these new bodies and sometimes heads repeat themselves just like body-types.  Its an aspect of the BT line I think adds a little realism to it...  Mean it mankind was building these bodies for the Autobots, there would be no way they'd have the time, or money to develop brnad new bodies and heads for each Autobot to upgrade.  I think there would definietly be repeats.

 

 

As for Ironhide...  I was actually thinking against it.  In my mind which is a bit of the BT story and a bit of rethinking G1...  is that Hound and Ratchet are "twins" instead of Ironhide and Ratchet.

 

Plus, (and I know I'm bound to get a negative response from someone about it), I've never liked Ironhide.  I always thought he was kinda dumb.  =)

 

As for Megatron...  I'd do Ratchet instead.  Megatron deserves a better robot mode then the Hound mold can give him.  Plus it you do, you can modify yours the way you mentioned and we can compare.

His crest?  If it were red, it would just be a prowl head.  You could make his helmet red, and paint the crest white making it accurate to the comic book Ratchet...  but I always prefered the cartoon look.

Now that is a top notch paint job. Very cool. I always liked Ratchet, it's nice to see someone else giving him his due. I'm just amazed by how clean that paint job is. And the trim and details too...nice work!!

Ahh, go back and re-read the first page-  the only painting I did were the red highlights and the black crest on his head.  I just efficiently used a white houng Knock Off as the base.
