the tf fandom is bitterly divided

Recommended Posts

It won't matter what hasbro does, we will always argue and complain about the lines and stuff like that. besides as Tf Fans we should appreciate what we have available even with those small glitches.  It's just a matter of appreciation.

I just think it's funny how insular this whole discussion is. Hasbro's primary goal is to keep their brand fresh and marketable. Which means that they're going to change things up every now and then. And they're not doing so because of the fans. Now sure, they're quite conscious of what the fans want, but ultimately -- these are toys for kids, and if Hasbro loses sight of that and starts exclusively catering to us, they might as well stop selling them in TRU b/c kids won't buy them.

Here's my thought on "preferring a series": if you like Transformers Version [X] so much, then buy the toys from that series and get the episodes on DVD (if possible) and STFU.

I don't agree at all, MH. true, the primary focus of ONE of the toylines is for kids, but they are focusing more and more on the fans, due to the growing numbers of them. if what you said was true, do you think that all that Botcon info would have been revealed? that the 10th BW anniversary line would be so geared toward fans?

For one thing, Hasbro knows that adult fans still buy the new toys, so yes it makes sense for them to announce everything that they did. There are tons of people on this board who collect toys from every series from G1 to Cybertron.

Re: the BW reissues, of course they're geared towards BW fans -- by definition an anniversary is a commemoration of a past event. Just as 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime was geared towards G1 fans as opposed to younger kids.

i'd say that they mostly ignore comments on the mainline/s, but on stuff like Alternators, they listen as much as possible.

Without a doubt. The Alternators line exists because of older G1 fans, period. But they're really not pushing that line the way they are with Cybertron, are they.

Edit: I would say that in general, TFs are an all ages line, rather than a for kids line. I would say that a for kids line would be sometihng like many of the Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, Teen Titans and The Batman(Not to be confused with Batman Begins.) toys.

It certainly has become that, but only because the brand has retained older fans. The future viability of the TF brand is dependent upon attracting *new* fans........... i.e. kids (which we all were once).

I wouldn't say that the future viability of the TF brand is dependant on new fans... there are too many old fansn owadays. maybe back in BW and G2 times there weren't enough, but nowadays, there are enough fans to sustain the entire TF brandname. it wouldn't be anywhere near as big, no, but it's certainly possible. there are millions of TFans all aroudn the world, after all.

What Hasbro should do, is re-make the Universe line with cool repaints and re-issues and stuff. And then change the name from Universe to STFU.
