Alternators "Shack"-Wave

Recommended Posts

hmm... and i purchased 1 more shockwave last time i went down south just becoz i was pissed off i coudln't find swerve... so i picked up the last shockwave i saw.

haha.

WELL... 7 clones eh?

too bad krylon fusion doesn't have a more "grey" version of the Nickel Shimmer...

perhaps i'll get my A$$ IN LINE, catch up in school, and finally start on a kit-bash - even tho i've been collecting and planning SO many... i need to start.

:D

*edit*

I would want a "red" theme for my shackblast... i'll try to find a way to give it a grey car body, full red tinted headlights/taillights, red "eye" and red hand gun.

i'll also be using a regular jazz/meister body... downgrade on the clone ;)

so this will be my first KB, i'll be Outback bout scratching the paint if i can't find a grey Krylon Fusion, i'll just leave it in bot mode :tftongue

SQUALL - i'll PM you bout exchanging my purple for your clear hand gun!  I think I'll just use red transparent "taillight paint" on the clear gun :D

Nickel Shimmer is a really nice color...its really nothing like charcoal, which is what I originally wanted to shoot for, and it really is reminiscent of a "dirty nickel"

I think its the only silverish color that Krylon Fusion makes...they have another color available called graphite...but don't waste your money...its a textured paint...and doesn't produce a smooth finish...I found out the hard way...and ordered it online...

As far as scratching, I think the Nickel Shimmer is a little weaker than the other Fusion paints.  I actually scratched each side of Shackwave's chest where the shoulders come into contact with the chest.  I'll have to touch it up and be more careful...but it was a suprising discovery nonetheless...

If your gonna go with a red arm-cannon...pick up a small spray bottle of Testors Transparent Candy-Apple Red Enamel Paint.  That's how I made my Armada Red alert arm-cannon...I used a purple Shockwave cannon, and sprayed thaat thing with like two coats...and it came out awesome...a real deep red.

Is it still translucent?

  • Author

Yeah, its pretty much still transparent...just not as much.

The color/transparency is identical to Cybertron Ransack's Cyberkey or any other Speed Planet key.  The cool thing is that it really matched the other arm attachments from the original Armada red alert for my custom...

I just finished the legs and the roof of vehicle mode...(although I don't know how visible it is in the pic...)

I have to finish the "feet" and all the minor pieces like above the front door windows, the two strips on the side of the stomach, and around the front windshield.

The more I work on this, the more the scheme reminds me of a GIJoe Cobra B.A.T...hahahaha

you gave me a new type of way to make a sweet kitbash.. swapping parts from alike transformers :clap  and it's cheap, too :boogie

My Shackwave is finished; how's yours coming?  I hope to have pics up soon!  Hope to see yours soon!

Well, I just finished the "feet," backdoors, and trunk pieces.  I also touched up the area where the shoulder scrapes against the front side fenders...cause it was a little scratched up.

I have to finish some minor pieces, and the rear 3/4 panels...which is probably the toughest piece to paint.  If I keep working like I am now, I should have it done by monday.

Then I'll just have to figure out where the arm cable goes, and get a purple arm cannon from a Alt Shockwave.

Are you gonna make a gallery like your other customs?  I remember like your first customs you posted you photoshopped a one-page gallery...and they were really cool

Sounds like things are coming along well for you on this project!  Can't wait to see pics!

As far as my own customs, I make galleries for all of them.  I am glad you like the "composite" pieces.  I really want to do all of my Alts and BTs that way (not just my customs), but I've placed that project on hold for now.  I'm better off using what time I have to making more customs. :tfgrin  I guess I'm saving that project for a rainy day. :tflaugh
