Alternators "Shack"-Wave

I know many people always wanted some kind of wire to go to their Shockwave's arm cannon.

I don't remember seeing anyone do this before...but if it has been done...my bad. If anyone has some old legos lying around, there was a wire-like connection like pictured below.

Each side had a connection peg for a lego...but if you pull the one side off, it fits perfectly in the transformation connector on Shockwave's arm...

Of course, this would interfere with the transformation...and I haven't figured out what to do with the opposite end yet...but at least its a start.

The paint I am using is called Nickel Shimmer by Krylon Fusion.

I found it at both Michaels Arts and Crafts Stores and ONE KMart...(so don't expect to find it there...but if you do AWESOME!)

I used it before on my Armada Red alert bash...its such an awesome color...and its the easiest Fusion paint color I have ever owrked with.  However, I think it chips easier...cause I already chipped Shackwave's shouler...which sucks...maybe I can touch it up though...

fetherw8 - During G1 back in the day, Radioshack offered a clone of G1 Shockwave...he was identical in everyway except color.  He was like a dark gray version of Shockwave.  I myself never owned an officia Shockwave...only the "knockoff" Radioshack version.  Today fans that know and love him refer to him affectionately as Shackwave!

Looks cool, I like it. With your "wire" for the arm cannon, just do like I did with my Alt Sixshot. Make it removable. I hope you dont mind, but I may have to make myself one of these. I 've got an extra Meister, and a left-over cannon from when I did my Alt. Sixshot. Anyway, sweet job!

Hey, the more people the merrier.

I don't want to say the idea was really mine in the first place anyway, I never meant to, most of us get our ideas from the board, and from others...

I was talking with superquad one night, and the idea was brought up about Shackwave, and he let the cat out of the bag that he was making one secretly...(which he already told everyone above...so I am not letting the cat out of the bag here...)  I believe he is going to post pics soon!

So, I figured I had all the necessary parts...in fact...they were going to waste, cause I tore through a Meister and a Shockwave to get the parts for my Alternator Stepper/Richochet (still in progress)...so I figured what better use for the leftover pieces?  Overall, the project became more exciting because there were others interested in the character and in progress making there version... so I dumped Stepper/Richochet in favor of Shackwave

Hey the BinalTech storyline mentions that Shockwave can make seven holographic "clones"...maybe if we find seven people to make one...hahahaha

Cool! Alternator Astromagnum!!!!  :eek

Yeah, Shackwave has been on my custom table since about late May/early June.  I worked backwards than squall here; I had started out with an Alternators Ricochet/Stepper and ended up with Shackwave as a by-product.  As time went on and I did a few other projects (which can be found in other threads and also by clicking my sig), I became more and more enthused about Shackwave.  I then started doing prelimary work on both simultaneously.

The customs I have recently posted were nearing completion, and I had decided to devote more time to Shackwave and Ricochet.  I extensively do research on my customs and preprartory work before I start in hardcore [Please note here that I am in graduate school at seminary full-time and I work part-time as a youth minister, so those things take a lot of my time as well].  I also was doing an Alternators Brakedown from the Swipe mold (one of which several people have already done, I acknowledge).  I just flat out got bored with it, bagged it up and then turned to Shacky.  I have painted his appendages, fully disassembled him, and put on a few good underlying coats.  [Also to note here, I do all of my work with a paintbrush due to external limitions.].

Squall came on-line one night and we were just talking about customs projects.  I was keeping the Shackwave project underwraps and squall just figured me out  :tftongue From there my enthusiasm was shared, and thus we have this thread.

As I stated, other things demand my time and such is the case here recently.  I think I just woke up today and mid-term time is here.  I had a plan to launch a full force custom party with Shacky, but such will not be the case here in the near future.  I hope to finish mine soon as well.  I did some more research the past two nights.

To further involve more members on this thread, here is something I submit.  I don't know about squall, but I've have found very little pictures of Astro Magnum and Shackwave.  Could anyone here on the board supply this thread some reference images?  Any images would help tremendously.  I found about 3 I think (I'll have to search through my reference files and see).

Yeah, there weren't too many pictures last time I checked...which is why I went the route of making it silver wih black limbs...kinda gives Shackblast the look of the Cobra Battle Androids from GIJoe...I think they were called B.A.Ts

HAHA, but I agree, I'd love to see more custom Shackblasts..and more reference pics would be great.

A lot of people have told me to keep the arm cannon clear like the original AstroMagnum...and even GlauG of TFMaster said he thinks Alternator Shockwaves arm cannon isclear underneath the purple, so maybe the paint can be removed...which would give everyone a clear arm cannon...just trying to help keep everyone informed...hahahaha
