Cybertron: Overrride

Recommended Posts

I've passed her up twice and opted for both Red alert and Landmine, both of which made me squishy in mein pants. Don't even ask how horny I am for the Hotshot I bought. :drool

Today I intended to get her, but was foiled. Cash burning a hole in my pocket, I quickly made do with Thundercracker and the minicons. Both of which were better than I'd heard or expected.

Seeing that picture just put Override on a much higher spot on my acquisitions list. I like her. I don't expect her to be a masterpiece and while I agree that the sex-change is weird, I don't give a damn. I'd rather reward the addition of another fembot (It's freakin' Minerva! COME ON! Look at it!) rather than spite Hasbro for a barely noticible gender alteration. I mean, the toy doesn't look the least bit feminine, but it doesn't look all that masculine either... especially painted up Minerva-esque. Besides, it's a better aesthetic investment than DIrt Boss. :puke

Override doesn't do it for me. She's too tall and topheavy. She has to stare at the ground to stand. The weapon is also awkward. Man do I miss simple gun accessories more than anything else.

Here are some more pics...

Overdrive can 100% neal on his own, even without the gun. With the gun, its added weight, so it needs support. Sorry for the crummy pictures.

I like the fact she can almost transform by her self.

I love that. I got mine yesterday. I opened it and I'm like where to start first? I pulled the leg and then click! I didn't have to do anything. I thought that was so cool. I thought auto changing BW were alright but seeing this figs arms pop around, backback go to the back head go to the shoulders and cockpit go to the chest. That was amazing to me. They could have given this bot some pouting lips if they wanted to pass it off as a Female. I'm gonna have to see........Her on the Cybertron show before I can believe it.

IMO, her show persona is pretty convincing.  She's still pretty butch looking, but her show model is pretty androgynous in several areas, especially the face.

I can't get over the fact she's made to be a female...so I'm importing this one too. But the thing is why force a "male" looking bot into a female?? As much as I try, it's a tough one for me aesthetically speaking.

I'm almost certain that it was the other way around, that Hasbro had intended her to be a butch-looking fembot, and Takara turned around and made her male.  Hasbro's the one who designs the characters in the first place, afterall.

I just picked "it" up yesterday.  Car mode is definitely better than bot mode.  The auto-transform feature is neat but I think it contributes heavily to the oversized, top-heavy torso.  I've had far too much trouble getting it to stand.  On top of that, as previously mentioned, the weapon is awkward and way too large with barrels that are much too small.  And, mine has a real floppiness problem, especially in the shoulders and that red back-piece that folds around from the butt to attach to the torso.  The peg won't stay in worth a crap.  Gonna have to pick up some nail polish or something to tighten that, and Hotshot's loose disco-hips...

*edit* Some day I'll learn how to type, I swear to Primus...

Eww... I just noticed "her" face color.  GF looks way better on this one.

:pfx

I still don't understand why they decided to make him/her an umpa-lumpa, but I got the GF one because of that face.

I'll have to say I really like the style of the bot and alt mode, it's somewhat unique.  I do see feminine elements in the mold, but only if they followed it up with a matching paint job... (kitbash anyone?)

so back to topic, I saw one at my local Target but skipped it.  I was hopping for Armorhide.

According to a previous thread, Override's face is a homage to Minerva, a Japanese Headmaster. Minerva has the same mold as Nightbeat, but has a white and red ambulance scheme with a peach face. With an obscure Japanese reference such as that, who says Hasbro doesn't give a damn about the fandom? :tftongue
