Ultra Magnus COULD become a good leader IMO. He just needs to gain more confidence. He did survive a direct fight with Galvatron after all.

Plus, he has the "Unsolved Mysteries" guy doing his voice so that’s a huge plus. :D

Funny, I thought he got his ass kicked. :tflaugh

ya he got blown the F up....???...it was thanks to the Junkions and their tube of Didi 7 that he lived.  As well, I dont think he lacked confidence...just didnt want to be the main guy.

I cant believe i'm discussing this fanboy stuff

SURVIVED

He did not lack confidence? Watch the scene where Prime dies and tries to give him the Matrix. Then tell me if he was brimming with self-assurance.

True, he did get his ass kicked in the movie but in season 3 he went toe to toe with Galvy as many times as Rodimus and usually fared better.

The Autobots sure thought he was dead... but the Junkions' MAGIC GOO fixed all. Too bad nobody thought to pour some of that on Optimus Prime...

There's also a difference between confidence and arrogance. You can be confident in yourself and still possess humility. When Magnus said that he was just a soldier and that he wasn't worthy..... he was right. He knew his role and he accepted it. Which is why it seemed odd to him that Prime would offer him the Matrix. Plus it was an incredible honor, and anyone who would have said "w00t I R0XX0RZ NOW!!!1" probably would have been the wrong guy for the job.

eeeeexactly

...again, I dont think he ever lacked confidence...just like it was pointed out, he went toe to toe with Galvy and in a lot of cases was left to make a lot of the decisions.

Rodimus had the confidence issue.  He coulda been such a cool character after the movie...but uugghh

I rate him a 6 in a scale of 1 to 10

He was a good tactition. He and his men ambushed Galvatron in Season4 and nearly nailed him untilof coarse Scorponok intervened...

I think Ultra Magnus was never meant to be a leader at all.  He is like the Merlin to King Arthur.  He is the advisor and the teacher to a young leader.  Ultra Magnus having the experience of battles and wars long before Rodimus gave him an advantage or catagorizing situations, and dealing with them justly.  I think he was a good character and a good choice for a leader.  But if you were Rodimus who would you take advice from Magnus or Kup.

"Kup I asked for your advice, not for what this situtation reminds you of"
