Takara Dissolved

Recommended Posts

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but...

If GF and Cybertron are already mostly finished - that is the Designs etc are complete - does this mean that the FIRST signs of Tomy influence will be on THE MOVIE FIGURES?!?!

Hunter

Yes, or even the post movie line. Form what I've heard about the movie, it sounds like Hasbro is in control of the everything relating to it, but I'm probably wrong.

Tomy distributing TF's on a global scale, consistent quality between Japanese and foreign markets, not being raped by mark ups by Hasbro.

And potentially better distribution.

Though I'm sure for at least the forseeable future Hasbro has a contract with Takara, and it will still likely apply to the new merged company.

Everything that Takara has owned, including contracts and licenses, will be transferred to Tomy.

They also make several Thomas the Tank Engine playsets.

Does this mean we can expect to see an Astrotrain reissue with a giant face attached to the front of the train.  :tflaugh

I'd buy that - and set him up next to my "GeeWun" Scooter and Turbo just to show off!

Well it looks as though the TF's with the Takara label on it will be worth more now then before because Takara no longer exsists. This could be good but it also could be a bad thing. Lets just wait and see before we jump the gun.

we can be as optimistic as we want but the cold hard truth is that there is no real reason for tomy to keep making tf's. tf's in general have been doing poorly in japan for years and the only reason takara kept making them is because hasbro was forcing them to. ironicly, it's probably hasbro's disrespect to takara's fiancial situation that forced them to merge with tomy.

Even if Tomy doesn't make TFs, it's not the end of TF, Hasbro will continue to make them.

They should at least put out a movie line, as that makes sense financially. Personally, remembering a time when transformers went into the ""actionmaster tailspin", I take each new line as a blessing.

Astrotrain as Thomas the Tank Engine and Metroplex as Mr. Rogers neighbourhood.

they might not if hasbro thinks tf's are no longer profitable without takara helping to foot the bill.

to tell the truth, i'm fine with the series being cancelled so long as they finish gf/cybertron and i get my reissue galvatron and star convoy. i got no regrets.
