Takara Dissolved

Recommended Posts

Im pretty sure there will be cost cutting somewhere, after that who knows.

I think the BT line, if it survives will slip in terms on engineering and QC.

I personaly don't think Tomy beeing in control of Takara would be that bad of a thing. I've certainly been impressed with the detail and thought put into their Zoids line and they also do the same rare, exclusive, you have to stand on your head to get this items that Takara does.

Realy, what I think the main thing we'll see is a differnt logo on the back of the boxes. At most, we'll see some slight design changes as a differnt school of thought is brought into the creative prossess, but I think even that may be too much.

Remember guys, inbetween G1 and G2, there was only about a 2 or 3 year gap, and then the TF line has been running with out any breaks.  Transformers has surrived worse things than this.  I realy realy doubt this is the end of our beloved robots in disguse

Tomy distributing TF's on a global scale, consistent quality between Japanese and foreign markets, not being raped by mark ups by Hasbro.

And potentially better distribution.

Though I'm sure for at least the forseeable future Hasbro has a contract with Takara, and it will still likely apply to the new merged company.

idd love to se better quality control, better disrobution and such but cuz of the contract with hasbro i dont see it changing much

so it would appear that Takara's products (for us mainly TF's) will continue but under the Tomy banner.  And if i'm not mistaken, Hasbro already owns Tomy which was a Kenner property when they were merged with Hasbro?

Hmm...so does that mean Hasbro won't need to apply for TF licences that Takara owns?  I would think that they inherit them, if Hasbro does own Tomy.

:rofl That would be awesome! :thumb

I think QC for the Alternators has slipped already. Comparing Smokescreen with his hard durable plastic steering wheel to Wincharger's floppy rubber one is a clue.

Theres no chance of the Tf line disappearing altogether. Cybertron could be the last tv show based line alright, but they will definately want to cash in making movie based figures which could go on for some time considering Stephen Spielberg wants to make lots of Tf movies. Check his interview at:

model kits!

Just for a quick reminder... what has Tomy been responsible for in the past (toy lines etc.)?

So like what?  Transformers are some albatross that makes no money?  cause you could have fooled me...  I spend bucketloads on the stuff...

I have not researched how much money they are or are not making on stuff but I'll tell you how they could make more...

have someone come in and tell them which molds suck and then shortpack those

it always looks the same on the TF shelves...    all the good molds get bought up as soon as they hit the shelf and then you are left with nothing but offshoots and demolishers

Tomy created and currently maintains the Zoids line, which has been going on in one form or another since 1981 and still goes on to this date.

They also do several other lines based on other TV shows from what I can tell.
