Are you guys just as pissed as me?

I buy Cybertron because it's cheaper

I can go down to the store, get what I want and not need to pay import charges and shipping.

Also remember Hasbro has alot of US exclusive molds that are very well done(Hardtop, Armorhide) they are also releasing more minicons that are US exclusive.

And the paint apps that are missing arn't going to be noticed by anyone whp is just passing by. I mean my shelves are loaded with bots, all that people gaze at are the sheer number(1000+), to notice a difference between the Cybertron/Galaxy Force you need to take the figure down and examine it. I mean the differences that exist arn't anything major. It's not like the difference between Energon Megatron/Galvatron and Superlink Megatron/Galvatron. Those molds were majorly altered.

If I can save a few bucks by getting the localised version, then i'll do it. Occasionaly If a mold is majorly altered from the US version(and by major I mean completely redone color scheme or a retool or somthing like that) I'll get the US version AND the international version.

Budgeting your money is the secret to having a large mecha collection...I mean none of my mechs are doubles of anything. Yeah some are repaints or retoolments, but they each have enough differencers to distinguish them...

speaking of paint apps, how many of you have ever repainted your tf (using tamiya/model paint), whether it's because the original paint sucks or u just want to customize your tf? Or do you prefer to see them just the way the factory made them? any reasons to repaint or not to repaint?

Ok, so I knew that Cybertron Vector Prime was missing paint apps from the GF version.

But I didn't know how many paint applications were missing on Optimus from his GF counterpart.

1.  Missing yellow paint on top cab lights.

2.  Missing wheels paint on the last set of wheels, the one with the springs.

3.  The inner sides of both cannons are missing paint, should look like the outers.

4.  Missing red paint on the leg cannons/missile storage.  Missing on the sides, only painted the top.

5.  Missing gold paint on the force chip thingy.

Now if 1 or 2 of these paint apps where missing, I wouldn't be so pissed but for $40 I expect more!

You would figure that since the Cybertron version is missing paint apps that it would at least be slighty cheaper then GFs but no.  I am not talking about the imported GF price, but the price you would pay if you were in Japan, which is 4200 yen, which is roughly $40.  But the only way to get the GF version if you are not in Japan, is to pay $60 or so.  Is it worth $20 more to get the 5 missing paint apps?  NO!

Now this is where I get pissed.  Hasbro know we don't have a choice but to buy the Cybertron version, so we are stuck with missing and crappy paint jobs.  If the domestic prices of GF and Cybertron are the same, why did Hasbro leave out the paint???

I know that some of you buy the GF versions or both but it is not worth extra $20 for and buying 2 versions is just stupid.  Its not like its made of die-cast, which is why I pay $20 extra for BTs.

Thoughts/Comments?

My thought/Comment :

I really don't worry about it.

In fact, I think they could stand to cut a few more colours from the new figures.  For example, Cybertron Scourge.  He's got a really cool orange, black, and yellow colour scheme going on.  Why add the purple?  Doesn't really add anything, just makes it a less unified colouring.

I never modify any of my Transformers or other robots, or even appy decals(because they wear off)

Hell the few hundred model kits that I own are all unpainted(however some do have 1 or two decals on them, but thsoe decals usualy are applied on the interior)

Step 1: Move to a country on a different continent

Step 2: Beforced to spend $90+ on the supers, 50+ on the ultras, and 130+ on the supremes, and hope that they actually get released.

Step3: End up buying the GF imports because it ends up costing maybe $10 more or Hasbro decides not to release the toy in your country.

Step 4: Shut your bloody mouth and realise how good you have it.

Exactly. Let's step back from this whole situation for a moment.

Hasbro is a toy company. They make toys for children. If you, as an adult, want to buy these toys for yourself, you're certainly welcome to do so. But let's not for a moment think that people like you are Hasbro's primary demographic, b/c they aren't. (And yes I say "like you" b/c I buy Cybertron toys for my son, not for myself.) And to get so uptight about something so insignificant..... you may think that Hasbro is giving US customers the shaft, but the fact of the matter is that kids simply don't care. My son has Vector Prime, and he's seen the show, and he has yet to express any disappointment whatsoever in that figure. As a matter of fact, I would be shocked if I ever heard him mentioning paint apps.

I'm sorry, but I just find it hard to take this seriously. They're friggin' toys. Grow up.

to think how much of the pie us collecters do take up we're lucky how much attention they give us. remember energon and how many g1 homages they gave us? well those were new to the kiddies and they bought them un-knowingly of theyre heritage. they dont have to give us sh*t but they do. and if youre really that pissed then buy the gf version. if i ever find a better painted version of something i have, and its good enough to buy again then i do it.

and i notice accuaracy and paint apps and when there is something better i just buy it rather than Starscream that i spent money on the first one.

I would not be so pissed if Takara's Optimus was didn't include "extra" paint apps.  Why I am really pissed is that Hasbro decided to save 2 cents on their version.  So why is hasbro screwing us if takara isnt???

So you can Starscream on short smokestacks but I can't Starscream on missing paint?  FYI although the 20th annv. Prime had short smokes, he had extra battle damage paint and the MP Prime had no extra paint but higher stacks.  In that case, hasbro took away something but gave something back.

And another thing, if no one cared, then why did some ppl buy the GF Optimus instead of Cybertron?

Takara put in the "extra effort" because a lot of their intended market actually is adult collectors, at least much more so than Hasbro's is over here.

It's not that none of the collectors cares, it's just that those that do don't Starscream about Hasbro screwing them. Instead they ante up and buy the one that pleases them.

Do not really care much about a few paint aps because often enough one barely notices it.

However I do notice the paint missing on the Force Chips/Planet Keys. Ransacks is missing a bit of paint and simply because I got plenty of those, I do not mind. I do mind they left Vector Prime's unpainted and gave him rubber parts.

That is why I am shelling out $40 for the GF version. Same goes for Prime's Force Chip/Planet key.

If only they had painted those, I would be fine. I mean I did not miss the extra paint aps Superlink Sprang had at all.

thats hasbro prime, gf ones are solid wit metal bar

On GF Prime the wings aren't just held on with snap tabs.....  so if the wings come off.....  they're probably staying off.

Bearing in mind that he's a bit back heavy, im happy with my choice.
