Movie Soundwave

Recommended Posts

If Wheelie is in the movie, that's a good TF to kill. Knowing the way Hasbro is today, Soundwave's cassettes would be replace with Minicons. If Prime dies, I know a perfect leader that could replace him, Optimus Primal

Now, let's leave mass-shifting out of this and look at Soundwave's G1 alt-mode, the cassette recorder.  This isn't meant to be about what he should be if he were in the movie or even if he should be in it at all, no matter what his new alt-mode could be.  This is a, pure as cocaine fresh from the processing plant in Colombia, hypothetical question.

Would it be so terrible if he were a cassette recorder in this day and age?  When you think about it, there is no modern, sound recording/storage device that would be appropriate (i.e. make more sense) than cassette recorder.  I mean, sure, cassette tapes were thing, buy CD, and even those MiniDisks, are much thinner, so how would they make more sense as robots?  Plus, every modern device is smaller than the cassette recorder than Soundwave was based on.

Now, if a human character in the movie saw G1 Soundwave, in his alt-mode, would they imediately think, "Oh MY GOD!  NO ONE USES CASSETTE RECORDERS ANYMORE!!!! THIS CAN ONLY BE A DISGUISED EVIL ROBOT, HERE TO CONQUER THE EARTH!!!!!!!!!!"

A disclaunching streetlamp. What else would he be?

i only wish.....

His function is Communications - so maybe he could be some other communications/espionage related alt mode, like some kind of reconnaissance jet.

meh, i know alot of ppl that still use cassette walkmans.

i do think, however, that he should remain in the communications group but i think he should be more closer to his original alt.  maybe a laptop or something along those lines.  it wouldn't be hard to make rumble and frenzy thumb drives or something along those lines, maybe one could be a mouse?  easy stuff.  if he can't be anything like that i do think he should be in the espionage/stealth field.  possibly being able to cloke himself in some way.

you do not, if you do they should be slapped (or at least pinched)
