Personally I see good and bad in both.

The Botcon custom looks great I'll give you that, excellent paint apps, And most of it is better proportioned, but honestly I think her head is a little big and her hips look a little to wide for my taste.  The over intergration of the car hood/backpack looks a little better as well.  Of course I'll never be able to own that one so its a pretty picture and nothing more.

arceeproto's looks to have better over all articulation, and based on the fact that the figure in those pics is unpainted and the color is jsut the molded resin its got alot of potential.  The neck does look a bit strange, but since this is test prototype that make change some in the final, and since its a headmaster figure the head I have to give the head extra props for opening up into Daniel, though it hard to judge it from the unpainted pics I've seen thats adds alot to my views on it.  Now she's a bit slimer, and her I think she could use a slightly larger bust.

In the end neither version is perfect, though I have to say that I like arceeproto's version better because I see potential in it.  But thats a personel taste and feeling.  Other may and will differ.

HasTak dumbasses really need to make a Robotmaster/MP Arcee. I'm sure people'd be interested. What's scary, I clearly remember seeing the Arcee figure as a kid on a catalog. When I got older and found out it never came out I was shocked. Now I dont have any Idea what catalog I saw it on. I starting to think I made it up. But I clearly remeber seeing it. I was so happy to find out it really existed.

il admit i wasnt too impressed with ARC when i first saw it but you gotta admire the sculpt,  the head even transforms in to a headmaster. also the botcon98 one wasnt built for mass production, it was just a 1 off. if you dont like ARC dont buy it. cant compare it as they are totaly differant takes on the same bot

cant compare it as they are totaly differant takes on the same bot

I disagree, somehow....

But, let's not argue anymore.  Both figures are cool, and one of them is even available to own.  To each his own.

I feel the urge to put in my own 2 cents, because I have a different opinion than obviously everyone in this thread.

I prefer the unreleased G1 prototype to BOTH customs.

My reasoning is that while both customs in thier own way are far superior to the original Takara proto, I still have to display it next to G1 Blurr, Kup, Rodimus, and Hot Rod, in all thier blocky, quirky glory.  Therefore, a perfectly engineered Arcee, wether the '98 Botcon one-off or AP's recent production piece, would make all the other G1 bots look like the outdated lumps of poo that they actually are, and would therefore stand out like a sore thumb on the shelf.  So yes, I would actually prefer to have the crappy original design, if all three were available to me at the same price, and I was allowed only one.

Along the same lines, if both of the recent versions were available to me for the same price, I would probably go with the Botcon version, becasue in my opinion, it retains a bit more of the blocky look of the other G1 bots.  However, seeing as how Arceeproto's version is the only one comercially available at all, it's a moot point.  We're comparing apples, oranges, and bananas here.  I personally think that Arceeproto's Arcee is an amazing accomplishment, and would be proud to own one.  I agree that the price is a bit steep, but I also understand WHY the price is what it is.  If I am able, I will buy one.  If not, then I'll continue to longingly drool over pics of ANY of the three versions, because dammit my collection needs a transforming Arcee toy.

And not one that turns into a bike or a spider, although E. Arcee is a step in the right direction.  :thumb

I thought she fit in pretty good.

She is more detailed and articulated, thats for sure.

Either way. Thanks for the great input!

Cheers!

You are right though in a way. When she's next to Chromedome he looks, well, like building blocks with hinges. Big Smile.

On the other hand she looks pretty good next to alternators.

Cheers!

I think that whilst the '98 Arcee looks more Toon accurate, proto's Arcee is actually the better figure.

Is there no chance at all you might be able to work out a deal with perhaps a small toy company to manufacture these in a reasonable quantity to try and get the price down?  Am sure you'd have an awful lot more takers if it was even half the price...

I think that Arceeproto's version is sweet. I also want to pick up a fully asembled/painted version when I gather up enough money.

Good job Arceeproto!  :thumb
