So, who do you think should deliver the voice for Optimus Prime in the upcoming TF-movie?

This topic has probably been done a few times already, but I am curious how the ratio between G1 and BW-fans is here. Personally, I would rather have Chalk over Cullen. His is the vioce that I now consider to be the one for the Leader of the Autobots. Cullen was fun, but is only G1. Chalk has been the voice of so many primes and Primals over the last few years, that he has a much better picture of what it takes to be the leader of a group of robotic soldiers, and will be able to implement that far better into his voice than Cullen would.

The movie is (more-or-less, for-better-or-worse) G1, therefore, Prime should be voiced by Peter Cullen.

Also, Megatron should be done by Frank Welker, and Starscream should be voiced by the current VA, 'cause since he can do Cobra Commander virtually dead-on, he should, logically, be able to mimic G1 Starscream as well--and, it would be nice symmetry, because the original Starscream VA was also the original Cobra Commander.  :thumb

cullen he just sounds so much more bad ass the chalk IMO cullen will always be prime and chalk will always remind me of primal

prime has always been cullen for me, chalk made his name to me as primal and it was the best one he did. no-one says transform and roll out like cullen

Well, we've kind of limited ourselves here.

We can't really go past either Chalk or Cullen as far as Prime goes, the fandoms are just too used to having them as mainstayers.

So, let's turn this in a different direction. Ignore the most popular Cullen and the most used Chalk and consider other actors.

Peter O'Toole who played the King of Troy in Troy has a great voice. Full of compassion, but also veteran battle leader.

Or, just for a laugh, why not get the lads over at Monty Python to do all of it? I'm sure Eric Idle wouldn't mind doing Arcee.........

Seeing a real life Optimus Prime voiced by Cullen say "Transform and roll out" would make me pee my pants with glee. (Thats what I do when I'm happy.... dont judge me ;) )

Cullen, because there's more than just pleasing the fanboys.  Having him voice Prime could very well grab the attention of people that recognize the voice from the 80's.  Transformers were popular then and by having Cullen as Prime, I believe they have a big chance to draw people in that recognize  the voice of Prime.

I voted Gary Chalk. He's excellent as Primal, and I didn't think he was that bad in Armada. Seeing as Primate was a CGI character his voice fit much better than than the aquired Armadaverse animation and seeing as the live action movie will be more of the same he should be able to do a decent performance IMO. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who voted in this direction.

Also I'd much rather have David Kaye as Megatron because since Armada that voice has really grown on me opposed yo G1's screach obnoxious rendition of it.

definitly keep the original actors. that is a must. non-fans who occasionally watched the show prob. remember the voices the most, what with megs gurgling sounds and prime's drunkard talk.

Peter Cullen.

If it were a famous actor, it should be Harrison Ford.
