What is your pet peev?

Kibble--it's like the designers didn't know what to do with the part, so they just said "F*** it" and slapped the part on anywhere.

Big Peeve #1 - this one goes all the way back to the originals - PARTS THAT COME OFF BUT DON'T GO ANYWHERE IN OTHER MODES.

Prime fists, perfect example, though you could stash them in the cab at least.  Guns need holsters.  Gestalt hands/feet should serve a purpose for the individual bot (finally realized in Energon/SL).  Projectiles should have a place for storage if there's too many to be held in the guns that fire them (Primal Prime's leg clips, for example).

I hate rummaging through 50lbs of toy box to find one small part to complete a gestalt or load a launcher.

:pfx

I've got mine in my G1 DVD case, & it bugs the sh!t out of me!

Peeve #2

Toy shops don't have a choice on which figures they stock. That's why they've got E-Ironhide & E-Treadbolt everywhere over here. All the shop can do is order an "unlucky-dip" wave assortment box with (maybe) one good figure and loads of shelf-warmers as expensive packaging!

I'd say my biggest pet peeve would be parts that easily come off for no real reason. Blight's cannons, The back parts of Rodimus's feet, misc. alternators parts and other various little bastard pieces.

I haven't had any problems with Rodimus' feet.

For me, it's the short length of each line lately. I want a line that lasts for three or four years, and results in a lot of non-show toys. Many of the best molds have come from toys that didn't have characters in the TV show.

Yep that would be two of my complaints right there.

I don't mind if if part is securely fastened and breaks off with excessive force or a fall resaulting in being able to put it all back together again but something like Energon Ironhide's rear sides, and Rodimus's feet are inexcusable. if Has/Tak didn't want to invest in another metal screw/pin the least they could have done was rework the hinge/fastener so it wouldnn't fall off by the slightest movement. I hope this improves for Cybertron because nothing IMO is more frustrating then trying to transform a toy and have the same piece repeatedly fall off. :thumb

hope not to offend anyone but these are mine

-GeeWun Purists, who dont even give the new stuff any credit

-People who cant stop complaining about repaints...i mean shut up already! repaints have been around since the first wave of G1! they dont even do that now a days.  Not to mention not EVERYONE hates repaints...i mean i personally LOVE REPAINTS!!!yes you heard me :P

-bad distrubution

Here's one that I forgot to mention...goofy ass names that make NO sense at all. Ex: Decepticharge, Mudflap, and Clocker.

DC I don't mind so much,  but Mudflap? Why couldn't Hasbro just name him Demolishor like the GF version? And Clocker...if they couldn't name him Skids why not just spell it Skidz like they did with the RID figure? I really like those figures but I HATE the names!

names don't bother me, because if I don't like one, I just rename it.

I generally can't stand hoarders.

That annoys me a lot. Especially when some people can't find a damn fig, and then somebody else is bragging about how they have...

It's like :guh.

You know for the brand to continue, and all, we need some kids to buy these things too!

These people need to learn that they need only 1...

Seriously they think that these things are going to be worth a signifigant price in the future that they can live of of for years and years...

I think a C10 AFA graded MISB Grand Maximus goes for 1-2 thousand and GM was released like 17 years ago...and it took 17 years to only be worth a few thousand...

1-2 thousand is nothing that will last when you figure in the cost of the baiscs(water, electric, gas, etc.) you'll be lucky if it pays your bills for a month or so...

You'd be better off getting a real job....or investing in some stocks or bonds

X-Bob58, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you somewhat here.

*clears throat*

I hate the term "show-accurate" and "show-accuracy." Why? Because the opposite of accurate is inaccurate - which suggests that something is wrong. Thus the term "show-accurate" implies that anything that doesn't look like the show, is inaccurate and therefore wrong.

In terms of Transformers, this is often not the case. Almost no Transformer is show "inaccurate." In reality, it is the cartoon that is toy-inaccurate!

That's right. The toys came first!! G1 Bumblebee isn't show-inaccurate, cartoon Bumblebee is toy-inaccurate!! G1 Bumblebee was released in 1984, with Season 1 of the Transformers cartoon airing in 1985! The same goes for Dinobot! The toy was released in 1996, whereas the BW cartoon first aired in 1997!

And I hate the way that some fans put down Transformer toys for not being show-like, as if it's the toy's fault. FARK ORF, MATE!! Yes, cartoon Dinobot looks better than the toy. Of course it looks better. The main reason why the cartoon model usually looks better than the toy is because:

(a) Cartoon characters aren't bound by the same laws of physics that a toy is. Cartoon TFs can have more sleek and streamlined forms... even though in reality it would require a lot of mass displacement. Masterpiece Convoy is a classic example of how freakin' complex a toy needs to be to create a show-accurate Optimus Prime (I don't mind using this term for MP Convoy, since the toy was made well after the G1 cartoon came out, and obviously with the intention of mimicking the cartoon model, unlike most TFs) - with the toy virtually flipping itself inside out to transform!

(b) The wonders of retrospective hindsight. The animators are looking at the Transformers toys, and in translating it to animated form, are obviously thinking about ways that they can improve to make the figure look better. Not hard work when most of the work has already been done for you by the toy designers -- the animators are merely improving on HasTak's work. Do people seriously expect toy designers to accurately predict the future and design their toys to match the show designs? It wouldn't work? Why? First of all, it would be an endless savage cycle of constant improvement... say if Takara's designers had a vision of what Bumblebee would look like in the show, and designed a show-like Bumblebee toy years before it would ever appear in the cartoon - say if they created a smaller version of Pretender Bumblebee for Microman. The animators at Toei would look at this toy and improve it! Then fans would Starscream that the original Bumblebee toy was never show-accurate. The cycle would never end... we'd have Binaltech Transformers in 1984, the show would look better, and fans would complain. Secondly, if you could accurately predict the future, as if you wouldn't quit your job at Takara and live the rest of your life on lottery winnings!! (makes you wonder why all those people working on psychic hotlines aren't doing this right now! I've often wondered about calling and asking them for next week's Powerball numbers)

Having said all that, I can understand the appeal of show-likeness in a toy. e-Hobby Astrotrain really showed the marketing power of a show-like TF. But having said that, you'll notice that I prefer using the term show-like, rather than show-accurate, as the former doesn't imply that one form is superior to the other.

That annoys me a lot. Especially when some people can't find a damn fig, and then somebody else is bragging about how they have...

Welcome to Harold Tietjin's world. :P Harold's the Transfan who published the Unofficial Transformer Recognition Guide btw - all those Transformers and accessories photographed in those books are from his collection. He owns like almost every Transformer ever made... in triplicate. ;p

-People who cant stop complaining about repaints...i mean shut up already! repaints have been around since the first wave of G1! they dont even do that now a days.  Not to mention not EVERYONE hates repaints...

Yes, but G1 repaints were:

1. Far less abundant. It's not as if virtually every major character was being repainted. If Hasbro applied their current repainting policy to G1, we would've had the G2 repaints back in the early years of G1, only that they would be power-upped versions of the previous versions (but without any extra features like sound chips etc). So imagine G2 Hubcap being released in 1986 as "Power-Up Hubcap!"

2. G1 repaints weren't overtly endowed with bright fluro colours. That's what G2 was for...

3. G1 repaints were more meaningful. Frenzy isn't "Power-Up Rumble" or vice versa. They are separate characters, each distinct from each other (even if the cartoon ignored this). I think a lot of these repaints might sell better if they were marketed as new characters. This is part of the coolness of the e-Hobby figures: not only are they reissues of G1 Transformers in Diaclone/Microman & original colours etc., but they're also new characters! A Constructicon recolour of Grapple normally wouldn't make most fans bat an eyelid... but the fact that he's Hauler from "More Than Meet The Eye, Part 1" makes him so much cooler! Universe, for the most part, gave us a slew of bad meaningless repaints.

i mean i personally LOVE REPAINTS!!!yes you heard me

So you're the guy who's been purchasing Transformers Universe!! I'd been wondering why Hasbro made this line. :D :P

I hate not being able to buy certain figs online for less than $20 more than retail price.
