this fandom can be so negative at times

At times?  More like most of the time.  I like it.  Scion wouldn't be my first choice for Ironhide, or 2nd, 3rd, 4th...but at least its not a sports car.  I know alot people think it would make for a better Skids, but I think Takara/Hasbro is trying to take what they can get.  Who knows when, if ever, they can secure a license for a minivan or SUV, so they figure Scion is good enough to bring Ironhide into the Alt lineup.  I, for one, am gonna take what I can get too.

We dunno for certain if this is IH. If it is, the fact he was once a box on wheels doesn't change the fact that, once again, he is a box on wheels. An ugly, insanely ugly, box on wheels.

I don't care who it turns out to be, what their previous alt. mode was, it does not alter the fact that this is perhaps the ugliest alt. mode in the entire line thus far and unless HasTak do some serious work, will be the ugliest alt. mode in the entire line period.

The irony is Toyota considers twenty-somethings (the age group comprising most people on this board who hate the alt mode) to be the target demographic for the Scion Xb.

The front end of the car looks ugly in robot mode, but otherwise I'm digging it

i accually like it. he'll be the first truck like alt. i dont see why some of you guys dont like it, the whole purpose of the line is to give TFs an update of todays cars anyways....

i say bring him on and dont forget the deceti jets :thumb

YYYYYYYEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Powerglide, Powerglideidy Powerglide Yeah! HAHAHAHA!!!  :clap  :thumb

I love it. I literally cheered out loud when I saw it.

I actually asked for this about a month or two ago on some other thread... actually I wanted an xA, because I drive one, but then someone else said it's much more probable that it'll be a xB because it's so iconic.  And they were right.

First of all, it's not an ugly car. It's an interesting car that adheres to neither European or Japanese design standards. It's entirely unique (well, sorta-- the Element came first and then there's that Mercedes box, but this is nowhere near as big as those things, so it's in a class all it's own) and a great feel to it. The Gremlin was ugly, but it was great because of that. Do any of you think a Bug (the old and new) are good looking? I don't think so, but I admire thier designs anyway.

But yeah-- I used to thimk this was the most horrendous car until one day it just dawned on me how neat and unique it was. And then I started falling for it.

It's kind of like PeeWee's big adventure-- it's so bad it's great. Either you get it or you don't... but it's more fun to get it.

This also brings up the question of how this is going to play out in the Japanese and American markets... remember that Scion is actually Toyota and doesn't that other company have exclusive rights to the Toyota line of cars for die-casts and "transformers"? I wonder if this is a US-only release.

Either way, I'm totally stoked.  Look guys, they gave everyone what you want:

A) An Ironhide mold, which I think this does a great justice to

B) A more Stateside-recognizeable car, as others have complained about the Subies (which, to me, are *fugly*) and the Accura police car)

C) A new mold.

I just don't see how anyone can be complaining right now. It baffles me that there is always so much complaining when a new Alt/BT mold comes out, invariably followed by the customary "Ya know, this mold is growing on me now that the paint apps are on" bulljive.

Stop talking Blot and start loving the toys. This is gonna be awesome!

The irony is Toyota considers twenty-somethings (the age group comprising most people on this board who hate the alt mode) to be the target demographic for the Scion Xb.

I bet that's how Hasbro was able to sell the idea to Toyota.

I don't think the "other" company has exclusive rights to the Toyota line, I'd bet they aren't even exclusive for the specific models produced.

Probably.
