Nightscream turned into that after e scanned the bat bones that were under the crust of cybertron.  So he could have looked like soundwave before he changed....

Based on more recent, better-angled pictures, yes, I was wrong about Liger-Jack's connection to Convoy's arm. 

 

That doesn't make my observations at the time any less valid, based on the only (fuzzy) picture available, which showed it from an angle that could have been either replacing the arm completely OR simply attaching to the arm.

 

As for Hot Rod's faction symbol...  I was never wrong or right, and neither were you.  I simply didn't see the difference you and the others were so worked up over.  *shrug*

Its Implied that the little kid robot running away from the Aerodron in the flashback is Nightscream, Benson Yee even thinks so and he worked with the Writers.

Was that Soundwave protecting Nightscream in the flashback?

Some theorize the robot protecting Nightscream in the flashback was Soundwave, but he had none of his weaponry, no Decepticon symbol and would have had to have been in a much smaller body than his original as seen in "The Agenda Part Three" during Beast Wars' second season.
