removing paint on alt ravage

Recommended Posts

Should I use paint thinner or will that scar the plastic? I've attempted some custom work in the past, mostly with KOs, and sometimes the plastic gets ruined. Will this happen with ravage? I've put a little paint thinner on his foot and it didn't seem to hurt.  Any tips would be appreciated!  Thanks!

worked like a charm

then...(let's call him Night Slash Cheetor for now...he's not done)

hmm, i would think it might mess up the surface... but if you do it fast and in short spurts, then it might be ok.

Step 1: Pick up Ravage

Step 2: Throw him in the garbage

Step 3: Dance an Irish jig.

J/K...or AM I?!?!

It SHOULD be fine, just use a little bit of thinner at a time. It might take a while, but it should be fine. I used it for 20th Prime and it didn't hurt any of the plastic at all.

What custom are you planning?!? Or is it a secret?

It would be okay for just that little secxtion if you rub, rinse, repeat.

But you could be a little more relaxed using 40% rubbing alcohol instead, and not have to worry at all.

Actually, try 90% isopropyl rubbing alcohol. it'll work fast, and it won't damage the plastic. As for paint thinner, I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks everyone!  As for my plans...to say I'm a novice kitbasher is an insult to novices, so this is a pretty simple one. I'll post it when I get it done (or ruin ravage) but don't get excited, it'll probably suck.

My last kitbash was a KO Groove into Arcee for my Grand Fire Convoy Defensor, and I melted her. So now I have to get my Groove back (sorry).

It was a KO Defensor with repaints, stickers and minor changes:

Hot Spot=Fire Convoy

Groove=Arcee (RIP)

Blades=Whirl

First Aid= Ratchet

Streetwise=Prowl

I used isopropyl alcohol to remove the grey stripes from Dead End, so it should work for the Decpticon sigil on Ravage.

One thing to be careful of:  the black on the rest of his chest (but not the part with the sigil) has been painted onto smoked clear plastic - so use a Q-tip to remove the sigil to avoid removing this paint as well.

Good thinking.

Don't use paint thinner, since it is clear plastic under that, it will scratch and smear is.  Either use alcohol or paint over it
