Big Bad Toy Store had BM Mega Rat traps on clearance yesterday for like $2.99

I got one on the way  :D

He's one of the best BM toys IMO. (They also had Thrust for super cheap...)

I've doomed myself to spending lots of money on BM toys b/c I just ordered BWR Blackarachnia from BBTS... :redface

Three reasons why I didn't like Beast Machines by Beast Girl

1.  I couldn't get past what Blackarachnia looked like in that show.  She looked like an anorexic pigmy.

2.  I didn't like way BM ended either.  Bob Skir left  too many loop holes in the plot of Beast Machines.  These loopholes were big enough to drive a MAC truck through.

3.  There's no clear explaination as to what happened to Obsidian and Stryka after they were catapaulted into orbit. Were they rescued?  Are their bodies still orbiting around Cybertron?  These are questions that have been left unanswered.

That's  why I didn't like Beast Machines.

Each to his (or her) own.... I loved the BM character designs because (for one thing) they allowed for so much more expressiveness. Blackarachnia was actually one of my favorites..

What were the loopholes you saw in the plot? Just curious.

There actually was a scene written where the Maximals offer to bring Strika and Obsidian back to Cybertron, but they turn them down b/c they feel that they don't deserve it. It was just one of those things that got cut b/c of time considerations, as often happens.

Well, this whole technorganic thing wasn't really spelled out in a great amount of detail which tells me that Bob and Marty didn't do enough research of the G1 cartoons.  I mean the Key to Vector Sigma and that sort of thing.  Then there was Cybertron's organic core.  In the G1 cartoons history states that Cybertron was at one time a factory run by the Quintisons which doesn't make much sense if they're trying to reveal that Cybertron was organic.

Well the point of a new TF series is not to establish continuity with G1. The point of a new series is to tell a new story. G1 continuity only happened in BW by pure chance - if the writers hadn't referenced a "great war" in Cybertron's past, the show might never have been tied to G1. And at the end of BW, since they already *had* made the show a "continuation" of G1, they decided to keep going with BM. And as I'm sure you know, Skir was told not to research G1 by Hasbro b/c they wanted the show to be forward-looking and not just a retread. (Oh, the irony.) Nevertheless, there were a TON of G1 references in BM, such as Unicron's head, the key to Vector Sigma, the plasma-energy chamber, Iacon, etc.

But again, G1 continuity doesn't exactly make or break a series for me, seeing as G1 continuity couldn't even agree with itself.

Anyway, there's nothing in G1 that *contradicts* the notion that Cybertron once supported organic life. If they had claimed in BM that Optimus Prime turned into a helicopter, that would have been a contradiction b/c we know that's not true. So it doesn't really matter that much to me. It's certainly easy enough to imagine that Cybertron was a planet that the Quintessons invaded and conquered, and then turned into a factory.

But again, G1 continuity doesn't exactly make or break a series for me, seeing as G1 continuity couldn't even agree with itself.

True, but the idea of Cybertron once having life was critical to the story - but the flow of logic from there was faulty. Like i said, it's akin to reformatting all humans now into Dinosaurs because they once lived here... (The connection was supposed to a return of land to Native American 'roots'... but the analogy was completely lost in the context of the story.)

Ya know, I always hated those damned Quintessons.  :tfmad And I agree completely that G1 had problems settling down with a straight foward 'this is it, no questions asked, end all beat all' explination about their origin. But I think a majority of the fanbase had a hard time swallowing the idea of cybertron having an organic core. I guess having someone say that there's no firey pit in the center of a giant metal ball turns them off or somethin. Don't ask me where I stand on this though.. I'm on the fence. :tflaugh

Ehh.. well it was Beast Machines anyway.. in Beast Wars they were going home to cybertron.. and if there was no 'organic life' on cybertron we'd be missing the beasts in beast machines. Be it good or bad...

Looks like you picked up on it.

Megatron had brought the idea of a "machine world" to its logical conclusion. He had basically turned Cybertron into a Borg cube... er, sphere. And the thing is, there's nothing wrong with machines being machines. In other words, a machine is not existentially altered on the basis of whether or not it is sentient, or has free will. But organic life is free and uncontrolled by its very nature. The two "opposing" forces had to be brought into balance in order to take Cybertron beyond where it had been before, and to restore it to what the Oracle had intended. That is the logic of the Oracle's decision.

And anyway, you should know better than to ask questions like that. Like Alpha Trion said, "Do not doubt Vector Sigma's motives!" :P

You can usually get most BM toys for pretty cheap. The only ones you'll have a hard time with are the "Battle for the Spark" figures and the Sonic Attack Jet.
