"laughable bards".... wow.

;) You WISH you pull pull terms like that out on the fly :P

Actually, I was just in awe of the incredible fanboy-speak. You know, the way fanboys use language that's a lot more formal than necessary.... :tfgrin

Tek is enough fanboy for all the people on this site. :tfevil

But his point was fairly valid.

Most cartoon execs want their show to be "art" so to speak...yeah it's an art form, but they consider their vision more important than the almighty dollar. It's good to express your idea in an accessible art form, yes, but if you're going to sacrifice good taste and potential millions in favor of "YOUR great vision", you shouldn't be making the show at all. Unfortunately, HasTak has total idiots in charge of the cartoons...

After reading 11 pages of this just a few thoughts to add:

About Archer. It was either one his last "Orson" posts or an interview, I can't remember which, where he talks about Armada Sideswipe being one his favorite, and in his opinion most underrated figures. I guess he thought so highly of it, that 2 craptastic repaints for it were a must do. That's reason enough for me to question not only his taste but his sanity as well.

About the drop in transformers sales, the past year+ has been a very turbulent time for the economy. Sales on almost everything were down and it didn't help that Hasbro put out a lot of figures in the $20-$50 range at a time where people weren't spending as much.  Sales picked up bigtime at christmas and transformers were wiped out all over my area and in many other places, so that tells me that there is still plenty of interest in them.

There is no doubt though, that things could be better. A popular tv show is still one of the most powerful marketing tools, and Hasbro has to realize that. Right now, they probably have a great deal of attention focused on the movie, otherwise they might have considered going their own way on the Cybertron cartoon rather than sticking with the english dubbed Japanese version.

The thing that will be interesting to see is what Hasbro will do AFTER the movie, especially if it's a big hit. Will they seek to keep the momentum with a related cartoon series and expanded toyline? I'd say unless all of Hasbro's ideas over the next 2 years totally backfire, then transformers will have a long and healthy life ahead of them.

I thought that was a rumor only? I really didn't think that was real...hhmmm...looks like I'm wrong...haha...

bwuhuhuhuh.... I think if Jack wants to talk about it, cool. Otherwise I'll STFU. :thumb

There really isnt much to say. At the time, Hasbro was demanding fan sites not show proto images on their sites. Everyone took issue with Hasbro leaning on us when at the same time a Hasbro rep was posting Q&A on a fan site that posted proto pics all the time. I never asked Hasbro to remove Orson, but when he was told to stop he decided to publically blame it on TFormers. Aaron Archer claimed it was due to a complaint I made that it was not fair he was on one site. A complete lie.

It was the posting of proto images on 2005 at the same time that Hasbro was demanding the fan sites stop that blew it for Orsons World. Hasbro even said it was not due to complaints from any one site. See their press release on the matter here:  http://TFormers.com/article.php?sid=1974

You can believe me and Hasbro or you can believe what other people say. I leave that to you to choose.

Lets face it, he was running things like his own little club, massively unprofessional.  It was amazing Hasbro didnt slap him down sooner.

BTW, when was it revealed that Orson was Archer? Before or after this interview?

It was revealed before that interview I think.  While posting as Orson, he gave hints to who he was, eventually, people figured it out.
