BoB, shut up. I just agree with a lot of DLP's points. And yeah, George summed it up pretty well.

it seems to be getting a bit personal in here so tone it down huh?

and Furman's guide PWNS for no other reason than it's a quick over view of alot of info.

o idea who that is and he does not even give any good references (and only a page of bad ones) on Google. So he cannot be a "big guy" in the business since  Google has info on anyone who is something.

I mean even I show up with a few referenes and I am a nobody.  :tflaugh

Besides judging from the writing for the recent cartoons I doubt many Transformers fans are that interested in having a Japanese writer.

I certainly would not be, especially if it would probably also be accompanied by the terrible Japanse drawings.  :tfpuke

As for Furman, I can understand why is not fond of the other Transformers series. Beast Wars and Beast Machines still fall within the G1 storyline. So they are still part of the original Transformers saga.

I feel that the Japanese made shows just do not stack up to it and therefor I like them a lot less than G1, BW or BM. Furman could feel the same way. I mean if any of us had to choose between G1 (as a whole so comic and show) or Energon, the majority would choose G1.

And he surely would having worked so long on it he would have deep feelings for this show and a certain level of "contempt" for all the copycats. One could argue that all the newer TF shows are just trying to "imitate" G1 and get the same popularity as those shows. In which only Beast Wars succeeded.

And Furman did write a lot of Transformers stories, of course he is going to "repeat" certain things. But the recent Devils Due GI Joe/Transformers crossover was also a lot like the first Dreamwave series. In both cases humans tried to control the Transformers to use them as war machines.

I read a lot of Furman's work and it is very good. The comic stories were written generally a lot better than any of the cartoons. Not just the G1 comic but also Armada and Energon. I liked the Armada and Energon comics a lot better than the shows.

Furman, like Budiansky also took a few Transformers into the limelight such as Nightbeat (my personal favorite and first ever Transformer), Thunderwing and Bludgeon.

That is what I liked best. He gave the characters depth which is something the recent cartoons would never do. And it is also what I greatly miss about the comics and Beast Wars.

Nightbeat was a pedophile :ghey that killed himself.

Peaple would just chose G1 out of Nalstlaga.  Victory, and Masterforce has fully developed charectors, AND a coheseve plot(no Magic Reset Button).

If Manga style is soo bad why did Dreamwave try to Imatate it....BADLY(Colours, Humans)?

While I don't hate the PARTICULAR/CERTAIN manga style DW chose, they did it cause Manga Styles are Popular and sell well to younger generations.

There are VERY VERY FEW art styles I dislike when it comes to Sequential Art. This is mainly because I love Sequential Art a lot and IF, IF, IF you can tell a story through Sequential Art (which is NOT as easy as it seems) then your artwork should simply reflect and go together well with the story, it doesn't have to be Alex Ross, Frank Miller, or anyone else...it just has to be the BEST you can do and help move the story well.

You know, I was going to stay out of this .... but ....

X-BoB, the NOSTALGIA argument has nothing to do with anything.  Stories are very subjective.  They either appeal to your tastes or they don't.  Manga as an art style doesn't bother me.  Manga and anime plotlines and characterisations DO bother me.  But that is just my opinion.  You may feel opposite.

Meanwhile, back on topic ... Furman was hired to write a bunch of TF stories.  They were popular, so he was allowed to continue.  For that reason alone, it would be entirely natural for him to prefer the continuity that, essentially, HE CREATED.

Personally, I liked most of Furman's older TF stories.  I haven't read much of the DW stuff, because the start of their run happened to coincide with my departure from the world of comics.

One last thing .... Me Grimlock, how do you know what the plotlines for Furman's Marvel run were when you admit to never having read them?

What's your point? What are you getting at?

Why?  Because they were kinda goofy?

See RID.
