Yeah, it's pretty much gonna be "Do it the way Subaru wants it or take 'Subaru' off of the product."

Which is my point - does anyone really care that it's advertised as a Subaru? I'm not talking about whether it is or not - just the fact that it's written on the box.

Well, the original POINT of the entire line was "realistic vehicles" and not just "things that remotely resemble cars".

You know, at this point I'd have preferred if Alternators were simply generic/original-design car models, as opposed to all this pissant compromising nonsense they have to pamper the car companies with just to release something half-resembling their original plans.

The BT/Alts wouldn't be as popular if this were the case - it would essentially just be an extention of the mainlines to use "made-up" designs.

They could have released all of the g1 figures Alts in their 1970 bodies (but in 1:24 scale).  This probably would have sold OK.

I've noticed a few topics grumbling about the piss-poor Altnerator distribution. Where the feck ARE these toys? In my local area, I'm still seeing Sideswipe, Silverstreak, etc. from the first few waves. One of the few later wave toys I saw was a lone Windcharger the other day at Wal-Mart. Why is the distribution on these suckers so awful? I really don't wanna go to evilBay to get Wheeljack and Shockblast...

in the uk we have had 4 alts (swindle has been sighted at forbidden planet.) i am still very disapointed at not seeing jazz though

I think most of it can be traced back to the oversaturation of Smokescreen and Sideswipe.  They sold well initially, but became far too plentiful (an issue with nearly ALL Hasbro boy toys during that period).  When sales slowed, stores didn't restock which created a backlog.

We are only NOW seeing that backlog clear up, but even so, I know of some individual Walmarts and Targets simply stop carrying a product because of this.  Universe is long gone from my area, and the only stores still stocking Alts are one Walmart and Kmart, both still have Smokescreens.

Walmart finally restocked with the newest assortment (which is how I got wheeljack), but they had been on order since before April 2, and I think that is because it was the only store that I know of to still carry Alts at all.

I'm sure somebody will ask about this at the convention, I'm really interested in hearing the team's take on it.

I think people just need to stop judging nationwide distribution based on their local store(s). There are Alternators galore in my area.

The G1s had real car designs like the Nissan 240z, Lambro Countach, VW Bettle, Corvette, etc.

I wonder why it was OK for those likenesses to be used if there was no liscense?
