The 1 thing that really did kill Armada for me was the kids.  I believe that they (the producers) hunted the most annoying child traits, wrote the most annoying lines & threw them in to the story. 

 

I believe that if the kids were not in the story, or atleast not all 4, it would apeal to me better.

BTW have I mentioned yet that there are no humans of any kind in Beast Machines? :thumb

Armada is what you make of it I guess. I can see ho this show could be a major dissapointment for anyone anticipating it but for me I knew nothing about it. I actually came across Armada accidently when I was searching out G1/Rid eps on coughcoghkazaacoughcough. Never made a point of scheduling for it just downloaded the entire series that way and watched it whenever I found the time.

From what I've seen of BMs I can see how the BW/BMs segas are better in just about every way possible. One thing I just can't force myself to agree with is how some actually see Energon as an improvement over Armada. Armada despite the first nine eps being all gimicky, and pretty much the same improved over the course of the run. What really hurt it overall was the decission to bring Fred/Billy(most freeking abnoxious characters ever :fire) into the Autobot ranks. :stone The mini arcs centering around the minicon combiner teams was really good as was the character development cetering on Hotshot and Starscream.

Somethings I didn't get was why one episode earler on is treated like a enviromentalist speach about protecting the enviroment, and another dealt stupidly with falling in with the wrong crowd. I'm all for dialogue but to address themes like this in a show about battling factions of robots is just dumb and a saddened last ditch attempt at relating to kids. For that alone the Armada translators/dubbing crew recieves a :tard award. Also what was the deal with Thrust. In the space between watching eps I competely forgot who Thrust was supposed to be and in later eps was portrayed/acted out as a lunatic. Went back and watched from where he was introduced and he's this supposedly brilliant tactician. What happened, my guess is the stress of constant failure. Armada also gave us some kick ass death scenes, my personal favorite being Thrust getting crushed by Unicron and Megatron walking away as it was happening. The fight between Nemisis Prime and the final battle between Optimus Prime/Megatron were also highlights.

I'll probably pick this up on dvd as it's relitively cheap. Any word on when the second half is said to be released.

I actually paid more attention to DBZ than beast machines, rid, energon, and armada. Yeah DBZ was also continuous and you couldn't miss an episode and I had to buy tapes to record. I couldn't care less if I missed an episode of the transformers. weird huh.

That episode is funny as all hell. Megs expressions and the relationship between Depthcharge and Rattrap kicked major ass.

 

If I stand alone, so be it, but dammit I liked that episode for the funny filler it was!!

Armada had some of the same problems as G1 in several ways:

1. -- Characters are introduced as one thing, then just fade away as time and new toys come out, or they turn int osomething else. *Shrugs*

2. -- Animation Quality is randomly good and bad, changes a lot.

3. -- Writing ran from decent to good to crap to even bigger crap.

 

But G1 was far more entertaining than Armada. Even now if I watch and compare both series, Armada was not that fun to watch. G1 still can be. Armada's Voices were also, for the most part, just crap to me.

 

In all reality, Armada and G1 have a lot of the same faults/flaws, but the overall characters and just plain entertainment value are much better in G1. This is just IMO.
