Interesting Blurbs Going Around

Here's the real deal with the Brave series...

Long, long ago, in the year 1990, animation firm Sunrise put out Exkaiser the Brave on Japanese TV in conjunction with Takara, which of course manufactured the toyline. Such was the relationship between Sunrise and Takara, until the final Brave series--GaoGaiGar--ended its run in early 1998. Since then, Takara and Sunrise split. Sunrise is now allied with Bandai, and still owns the animation. Takara, on the other hand, owns the molds. This essentially means that Takara owns the toys, but not the characters. It's a legal dilemma since Takara and Bandai compete fiercely. However, it recently appears as though a middle ground has been found, as Takara is producing updated Might Gaine figures, and now a re-imagined King Exkaiser.

The red tape is a real mess, but damn am I pleased to hear this news. Let it be known now that Transformers fans have been missing out this whole time on some truly awesome toys, and the Masterpiece King Exkaiser is just the thing to blow the lid off of the best kept secret in oldschool transforming robots. I will pre-order as soon as possible, and I would recommend the same of other Takara purists. I have serious doubt that Exkaiser will ever see Western shores in an official release.

a lot of us can't read katakana though. it'd be best if he posted the original spelling and the translation.

You could learn, though.

Excellent point, but keep in mind that there are enough peoplei n the world that cannot either take the time to learn a language such as Katakana, or who have tried and just can't do it. There will always be a need for translations, that is all i'm arguing. ;)

Katakana isn't a true language - it's a simple script used primarily to "import" foreign words into Japanese phonics. Give it a week, you'll get the hang of it.

Exactly.

Being able to read Katakana != understanding Japanese.

Also, recently I've found Super Robot Wars games to be a fairly effective way of learning katakana, just about everything other than the plot is written with it.

Binaltesk? I guess.

It may look kind of overwhelming, but it really isn't. Just go one by one and keep a chart around if necessary, and you should be fine.

Edit: Another thing to check out: a game that "teaches" you Japanese (through repitition, I guess. I've never played it.)

You don't pronounce the small "tsu". It just serves to tell you "double the following consonant".

So "Ba I Na Ru Te Kku".

Nevermore - your knowledge base and dedication to the toys is unserpassed - but it wouldnt hurt you to not be a compolete jcakass once in a while....

that being said - i am reading the lesson on Katakana and enjoying it emmensely.

However i also noticed YOU wrote it - which smells of mental-mastubation in the same way i have to buy a Professors histroy/physics/theater arts book for THAT professor's class.

Kisses
