um... can a mod please lock/delete this thread? i don't think i did very good job of portraying the message i was trying to get at :redface

Most women don't run around virtually naked in public so I'm not sure what kind of "realism" you were getting at, since the "fan service" you want is unnecessary sexually suggestive scenes and something you can "wank off".

What were you trying to get at then?

Clearly you're outraged at the lack of scantily clad preteens. And the reason for this outrage

1) isn't for use in a 'private situation' ;)

2) is based on realism.

3) Is about censorship and the need for less puritanism in anime.

4) has something to do with Gonzo including it in other shows they've done.

Based on that, I can only conclude that you have been watching Galaxy Force only because Gonzo has a history of including semi-naked YOUNG GIRLS in their children's shows. The lack of such semi-naked YOUNG GIRLS would naturally disappoint you if that were the only reason for watching.

As far as realism goes, perhaps there's a character reason she isn't wearing a skimpy bathing suit. Maybe it's to show that her character is unsure of herself and maybe even ashamed of her looks. Maybe it's a metaphor for shyness.

Realism in a cartoon about giant transforming robots in the future isn't asking for much is it? ... :roll

As for censorship ....

Since when did U.S. obcenity and pornography laws have ANYTHING to do with what happens in Japan? All the American translators have to do is either edit those scenes out or add clothing to the girls.

But feel free to disagree. I know you're going to anyway .... :thumb

Alright, I was thinkin about this at work, and I felt that I should add my comments..

In Japan things are a little bit different.. well, duh, that goes without saying.. but over there it's okay to have 'fanservice' on shows like Pokemon and Digimon. America's never gonna see it, no way in hell.. but the Japanese consider it more of a 'cute thing' than a dirty thing. Cultural differences.

I'm an artist.. I've spent a lot of time in Life Drawing class.. you get a little bit numb to it all. I'm at a point where I just say 'so what'.. I really don't give a damn.

i feel this is a non-issue. and this is a non-discussion. Btw, Lori is actually a guy in disguise. In cybertron, the show will edit to change Nitro Convoy to a female and Lori to a male, thats why its easier not to do such scenes.

Dont worry and look forward to the Nitro Convoy Fanservice scenes later on. He's one damn HOT babe. ooo.

man that sounds so wrong.

I had never even heard of the term "fan service" before this thread... and I think it's kinda funny. 'Cuz from context, I initially thought it meant that the fans were servicing themselves to half-naked anime chicks.... :lol

I'm sorry, but there's a big, wide world outside. Turn off the wannabe softcore anime and go check it out sometime.

......good lord

man, this is the first time i was aware of this "fan service" thing. i kinda agree with both sides of the argument here though. my opinion is yes, it seems dumb that someone would be on the beach heavily dressed. but i also agree that preteen cartoon girls in bikinis is just plain wrong.

but in all honesty, i dont even enjoy the presence of humans as main characters in any TF series. Rad and the other 2 stooges completely ruined armada. and that one boy in RID made the series kinda lame (though hasbro's retarded, half-assed excuse for not brining brave maximus to the USA pissed me off too. he was in the show and had episodes dedicated to HIM. not brining the toy over here is simply INEXCUSABLE!). but i think Kicker wasnt too bad in Energon as he isnt so touchy-feely "let's work together and be friends" kind of person. unlike Rad was in Armada.... though Misha bothered me on several occasions.
