Why do they have to put kids in a TF cartoon

Recommended Posts

at anyrate, Beast Wars has proven that you don't need kid sidekicks to make a good tf cartoon if you can properly humanize the tf's on their own. the bw characters had very human like personalities so it was easy to relate to them.

What a good point. Beast Wars is kidless!!

Kids can be a part of the show, but the show does not need to revolve around

them to attract the young audience.

exactly, the writers just need to be able to give the tf's decent personification and characterization.

unfortunately, every tf series since bm has been writen by japanese writers and for the most part, japanese writers have a somewhat difficult time personifying giant mechanical robots. so far, Gonzo seems to have struck a decent ballance with Galaxy force.

Except in the last series, the were the Neanderthal kids, I admit they wern't humans, but they got a little bit anoying at times- especialy in the season 3 ep: "Go with the Flow"

Here here! Beast Wars was excellent and did not have any kids.

I also agree with the Batman/Robin comparison. No one wants to be the kid. I do not remember if I fantasized about being in the Transformers cartoon but if I would then it would not be as a puny hew-mon. :tfevil

I would be the biggest and baddest :tfevil Transformer. Or Optimus Prime. :tflaugh

For the last one I am starting on it as I am currently working as an Archivist which Optimus used to be as well. :thumb

As for humans, I know how to deal with those germs. Megatron hacks into the human defense network launches the nuclear missiles to make them detonate which will release huge amounts of energy which with an Energon syphon can be converted into Energon cubes.

If I were him, that would be my plan. Killing a human would be like killing an ant or worm.

Honestly I understand why they put human kids into the TF series, but I don't like it.

Even when I was a kid, I didn’t care to watch other kids. I ONLY wanted to see the ROBOTS or MECHA. I actually wanted the humans to be crushed or stomped on. But the industry standard in JP especially is to create humans so the kids can relate to them. I can understand with a human based series like Yu-Gi-Oh but not with TFs.

i agree just one quetion on G1 there were kids?

I thought that Spike was 16, altough in the comics its Buster who's 16 and Spike 18+

then there was Daniel, Spike's son (about 10 year old)

Spike was supposed to be 14 in the 'toon. Although, most oil rigs don't utilize 14-year old workers :roll .

I believe Carly was 15.

Humans in G1 were kept to a minimum. Sure there were a few episodes about that mad scientist and some involvement with Spike, the dad and chip but they were NOT annoying the way the brats/kids are in Armada, Energon and what I will expect to continue in GF.

Don't forget Daniel in season 3, who imho was more irritating than Spike in season 1.

we only had 2 eps centered on those kids, and go with the flow was funny. I loved the bit where Megs was yelling at the girl and got frustrated. These kids didn't overstay their welcome, unlike Daniel in G1, Rad and the others in Armada, and Kicker and his lameass girlfriend in Energon.
