*shrugs* What do I need reissues for, I already have all five of the originals.

Way to add to the conversation :thumb My Dad can beat your Dad up...

Sludge and Swoop molds where destroyed by the time G2 started

wow, is that really true?

no, i think it said somewhere that those two simply weren't popular enough to warrant a rerelease.

are dinobots even popular in japan?

Swoop not popular? Thats news.. Next to Grimlock he seems to be everyone's favorite.

I think G2 was just screwy.. they only released a handful of diaclone TFs in that line.. and not all of them were popular.. Inferno? Ramjet? -let alone.. how in the hell can you even call that thing Ramjet- They completely skipped Thundercracker and Skywarp..

I think they got the molds.. and the only reason they haven't released them yet is they're probably saving them for a 'quick cash' situation. Cuz ya know, when they release these guys were gonna eat it up like candy.

I wish we could see a release of Shockwave and Omega Supreme myself.. but that has no chance in hell happenin.. :tfsad

Even if the molds were lost, couldn't they just use a 3D scanner to scan an existing toy and make a mold from that?

And if you do not like the Dinobots then you need a kick in the skidplate. They ruled!

That hurts. :tfsad

First off I agree with the majority of you. Reissues od the dinobot team would be awsome. Especially for those of us who didn't have the $ to buy them when we were younger. One thing I'm not understanding about this whole lack dinobot of popularity in Japan is if there hated so much why is Hasbro/Takara pushing similar designs in most other lines. Energon had new renditions of Grimlock/Swoop, Universe had several Dino molds, as does the upcoming Cybertron. :wtf Unless it's not the mold that's unpopular but the character itself. As far as remaking the molds of Swoop/Sludge how would that compare to developing an entirely new mold not alone marketing something you don't know will even sell properly. IMO if Hasbro decides someday to reissue all five or even the three that have been rumoured to survive they may not sell in Japan, but they'll be big sellers for those here in the northern western hemispere. :thumb

I believe they way they do it is tear the toy apart and recast the molds around the parts. At least thats how they got Prime back for G2.

I think any news about their molds being destroyed or lost is crap!!

those molds aren't cheap and has/tak aren't gonna just cast a mold a few times and toss it away,or destroy it. too much to lose from that. I think they tell people that they lost this mold, or that mold was acciddently destroyed, So people won't bother them about re-issues. until has/tak is ready to re-issue them. the place i work has crap stored from the first day they opened, because due to certain laws you have to keep things for a certain amount of time, plus you never know when you might need it again.

Personally I think the figures would be a huge seller. Takara should not just look at the Japanse market because it is clear that people abroad Japan buy Transformers too.

Except for the reissues and most repaints I buy every new figure. The photos never really say if the toy is cool or not. Though some GF Transformers look crappy. Skids has awful colors and Nitro Convoy reminds me of a candy kane. His robot mode looks knockofish to me as well.

But I will still get him, the Cybertron version that is so I can judge him myself. I passed up on Armada Hot Shot (for instance because he looked bad and almost everyone hated him). I rather liked him so I was happy with him.

So that is why I buy everything and even some repaints. Hasbro/Taraka made a kickass Galvatron hommage for Energon. Instead they made him white/blue. Why? To be able to repaint him later in the right colors.

They knew everyone could not resist buying this great toy, neither could I. Just as much as a lot of fans cannot pass up Galvatron.

I am also getting Galaxy Force Starscream for $40! because his Cybertron counterpart will be a supreme class. (Why he has to be from Earth, I have no idea. :wtf ) I will still get that one but I also want the more managable version.

How many of buy every new Transformer either because you are a completist or because you want to check them all out (which you cannot do while they are in the box)? That is the cause for all those repaints, not only are they cheap to make but there are plenty of "idiots" willing to buy them.

I know because I am one of those "idiots". :tftongue

As for the sales, I think older fans do contribute to Transformers sales quite a bit as there are a lot of sites that sell Transformers. Kids do not go there, unless they jacked their parents creditcard. The kids provide Hasbro's cake but we provide the glaze. So to speak.
