What is up with the dinobots?

Recommended Posts

WTF do I care about Japan? They are the morons who keep Powerglideing up Transformers with those freaking kids.

At least the last 2 US cartoons were kidless. The US writers know what we want as for the Japanese bustas keep siccing those damm kids on the poor Transformers.

And if you do not like the Dinobots then you need a kick in the skidplate. They ruled!

I think the point is that Takara is watching Japan's market, not necessary the US market. Since they're going to tailor to the Japanese, the U.S. collectors are at their mercy with what they decide to re-issue.

Maybe the problem is that some molds are useable, and some aren't(?)

once they release one, everyone will be pestering Takara for the others.

However i did hear that the Dino's arent as popular in Japan(?)

I heard that the Swoop and Sludge molds were destroyed and thats why they werent in the G2 recolors

If they do reissiue them, the MUST reissiue Diaclone Swoop(blue chest) and Canadian Slag(red face) instead of the US conterparts

Hasbro said that they effectively follow Takara in reissues (everything released in the TRU line was reissued in some form by Takara previously), and from what I hear, Takara is actually wanting to get into post 86 toys like Headmasters, but Hasbro pressure has kept them working on the first two years.

The Dinobots really weren't all that popular in Japan (with the possibility of Swoop and Sluge being damaged or lost)

And the TRU line is effectively dead, we will be lucky to get Astrotrain.

When you folk say 'lost' the moulds, you mean physically lost, dont know where they are? not 'lost' in the way people talk about trademarks? Cause if so, what would be the problem? Couldnt they just reverse engineer a mould from a toy? how hard could it be?

Sorry if im just not understanding.

from what I read about at least armada, its Hasbro that provides a general story for the next TF line (so thank Archer)

Japanese lines as BW2 and BWN didnt have human kids either, while there could have been, if they visited earth

and wasnt Mainframe Canadian? so its still not the US who writes childless stories

Generally, it means the molds were physically lost or damaged.

The problem with reverse engineering is that it costs too much (even in Japan the reissues don't sell enough to bother). The low sales volume and that most of the old molds often require some repair, is why the reissues are relatively expensive.

This is why I wish Takara/Hasbro would give us straight-up answers. Too much speculation...
