In the cartoon, Prime makes a statement while in truck mode that the Aurora Lights are "pleasing to his optic sensors". This obviously means he has visual/optic sensor in truck mode. Now where they are located can be anyone's guess. I'd imagine they be along his roof-line or possibly around his front fender or possibly bot to give him both high and low perspectives.

Also there was an episode where it was raining so hard that OP couldn’t see (out of his windshield?) so he re-polarized his windshield to repulse the rain and he could see just fine.

 

I believe it was somewhere in the 3-part episode “The Ultimate Doom� from season one (during the storms caused by Cybertron’s proximity to earth), but I could be wrong.
