MP-02 Ultra Magnus Product Page Up @ eHobby

I agree with you War Machine. I didn't even read the Dereamwave comic, but know about the reference of UM shedding his damaged armor in the comic. Whether this repaint was offered now or later down the MP line, it is a good repaint. I will buy him because I think the white looks good and the dreamwave reference.

Look there are some really good reasons to think this fig is lame, but layin down that hate on Prime being under the communicator? That's really reaching. :roll

I'm not trying to lay down hate for him over his communicator...I'm just trying to give a validity to my dilike of him, it just somehow turned into this talking bout his communicator. That isn't the only reason I dislike him or the main reason I dislike him.

The main reason I dislike the figure is because for a Masterpiece toyline, you'd think you could hold off on simply repainting a figure and NOT give him any new features or accessories.

And I don't like him calling Optimus cause it seems like a waste of a feature...he could have called anyone of the main characters around him at the time he is most predominate, such as Rodimus, Kup, Arcee, Blurr, Springer, or even Sky-Lynx.

You know that this mold has two communicators, one on each arm...so one will have Prime, the other one is still in question (could be any of the six you mentioned)

Yes I know this...but I'm betting the other communicator has Shockwave on it. Since Prime has Starscream and Bumblebee, I'm betting the other one has a 'Con on it too. And Shockwave would make since for this Dreamwave-Inspired Repaint.

And yes I did like Dreamwave...more than just their TF comics too.

I will buy him, if only hasbro makes him in plastic. I have 20th Prime and had no problem spending what i did for him, however i don't see any sense in spending the same or more for a repainted figure. however, if Magnus is made in plastic instead of with diecast parts his price point will surely go down, and i can see myself breaking in and picking him up. it would be interesting to see how this figure would hold up if made in all plastic anyways, my 20th primes is so bottom heavy (legs) i hardly ever take him off the shelf from display because i fear his legs are eventually going to break off. I know a lot of people are going to say that the diecast in Binaltech makes them superior to Alternators, but to tell you the truth, i would rather spend less on something plastic and get more firgures in return. Heres hoping hasbro makes Magnus on the cheap, but then again we have had many hopes concerning so many figures and ideas.

So is he an eHobby only toy or do they just have him listed for reference sake?

e-Hobby are listing the Binaltech toys on their site. Are they e-Hobby exclusives? :tflaugh

ToyWiz has Howlback & Garboil listed on their site. Are they ToyWiz exclusives? :tflaugh

For the record guys... MP-01 had TWO wrist comms. Using one of them to indicate a connection to his "brother" doesn't hurt the figure in any way.

I rather like the figure since as someone already noted, it saves me the time of trying to repaint a MP-01. Though I find his accessories extremely questionable, the matrix...? Prime's Gun? A walther P-38 painted up like... browning? A BlueEnergon Axe?? At least it'll look better when he and my MP-01 swap rifles...

Anyway, that's not why I'd buy the figure in the first place. I want to have Prime's little bro, the one with the inferiority complex. ^_^ Shedding the armor gives us an idea of who he really is and why he can't escape Prime's shadow. Looking exactly like him makes that difficult ;)

And besides, Armored Magnus always seemed overrated.

:pfx

I personally think Magnus dont look to bad but will I spend $100 on him? Nope! All he is is a repaint but for those who like Magnus then they will grab him. NOW if Hasbro comes out with him then its a different story all together. I would spend 50 to 60 bucks getting him just so my MP Prime would have a second in command so to speak. But pay more then that? Not a chance. Dreamwave can be thanked for this new look Magnus because it was their comics that introduced his new look and Takara just went with it thats all. Does he belong in the MasterPeice line? No because Prime should have been the only MP.

Just my thoughts.

It seems the point has been missed about the Optimus on the communicator. It's only lame because Magnus comes with a matrix. Considering Optimus also has a matrix puts it in the "WTF" category.
