This certainly is an interesting thread. A note about the G1 Mirage issue... The "Citanes" on the side is a corporate mispelling of "Gitanes." Gitanes had denied Takara rights to use their name on the toy and it was changed to Citanes. Another name also appears on the side of some versions, but that escapes me at the moment.

I doubt that Takara even tried to get the rights as Gitanes is a cigarette brand - however, it's interesting that they still used one of the Gitanes logos (the little woman in a dress that's beside Mirage's cockpit).

 

They also used a similar mispelling with the Marlboor Wheeljack.

ALL the Diaclone-based race cars had "modified" decals.

 

Jazz: "Martinii" instead of "Martini".

 

Smokescreen: "38" instead of "83".

 

Wheeljack: "Alitalla" instead of "Alitalia".

 

"Marlborojack": "Marlboor" instead of "Marlboro".

 

Mirage: "Citanes" instead of "Gitanes".

With regard to the Constructicon Build Team repaint, on the newest Universe figures (NS Cheetor, Frostbite and Ram Horn) they're the co-sell on the back of the card. So I'd say they're coming out at some point.

Because they cancel stuff? Happens all the time in business. Ever compared the cancelled stuff to the stuff that did come out? I fail to see where this is Hasbro "not respecting their fans".

This is a great thread but I think It should go earlior, What about the Double Pretenders? what about G2 Menasour, or BWNeo Unicron?

Why? What point would it serve adding ancient junk to this list?

 

Two of those are from when Hasbro definitively cancelled their lines (Double Pretenders from G1, G2 had a whole range of product on the boards when the switch was made to Beast Wars), and the BW Neo Unicron is a dead horse on this board.
