That's just wrong. If they can't get it past the customs officials, they should be held responsible. They should include a letter or something saying that this is a reissue of the original toy, but the Takara version, and that it's not painted orange because it's a collector's item. If that doesn't get it past customs, then they could probably think of a couple of ways to let it go past w/o the gun barrel being painted orange (which would look horrible on Megs)

I think both parties should be held responsible, although it is the retailer's obligation to warn the seller they may be violating a law. If I send you drugs in the mail, who gets busted...the sender or the recipient?

i bought mine at an ANIME store in CA for $115

And you cant ship it in Bot mode unless its opened and all that biz....

i bought mine in china and they made me open it and transform it b/c they do not allow toy guns on planes. how's that for stinkers? i wasn't going to open him but they kinda forced me to.

i already had the reissue they did a few years ago so i was going to keep this one closed.

i went ahead and sold my previous reissue for like $200.

found the right sucker i guess.

I got mine at a transformer convention in College Station, TX back in August or September, bad memory.

I think you'd be very lucky to buy one for under $90 at a convention, Ebay, or any other place cause if you buy one for lets say $60 from overseas then you gotta pay major shipping so look to spend around a $100 no matter what

basically the gun law problem is only in a certain few states, but Hasbro won't sell an item it can't sell in the entire US. The customs would only come into play if the item was suspect, and could only be confiscated if in one of the states where the sale is prohibited generally. Importing sealed in a sealed brown box would likely not raise enough suspicion for it to be opened and the contents verified. IF it was it would be a random search, or the company that's shipping it is being monitored for illegal activities. General rule, on certain items such as Megatron, where there is potential, but not likely risk, purchase the shipping insurance, that way you'll get your money back or the item replaced if something does happen 'in transit'.

Funny you should say that, I had a friend in that kinda situtation and Homeland Security comes and visits you! Don't want to mess around with the pay-tri-o-t-ac-t (there's a reason why I spelled it that way).

I bought mine via ebay from a Canadian retailer and had it shipped to the US with absolutely no problems at all. Final cost, $95.00.

Yeah the cheapest I've seen Takara Megs Re-Issue go with shipping was like around 80 bucks on eBay. When I get teh extra moeny I'll get one of my own...*patiently waits*
