Shoppertron is showing that Bot Collector has Megs for $90. Has anyone bought grom them before? I e-mailed to see if Megs is still in stock, but I have not gotten a response.

you shouldn't have any trouble getting it throught the mail

I got my Megaplex (ehobby megatron) throught the mail all the way from Japan without any problems

Got megatron through the mail too.

I dunno which one to get. The Takara#6 Megatron, the eHobby Megaplex, or the Black Limited edition one. Could you rate them (1st, 2nd & 3rd) please? :thumb

Ok, let me set the record straight. I work for FedEx and they are the worlds largest international shipper, so I've been trained well on how packages go through customs. Keep in mind, this info is packages going through to individuals. I'm not sure how things go with crates of stuff shipped on boats.. But for a single item shipment like this, what I know should apply.

If the sender fills out the forms correctly, customs never lays a hand on the packages. The paper work for all the freight goes to the customs. They look at them one by one. Unless the paperwork is filled out wrong, they clear it. If it's filled out wrong or the description throws up a red flag, then they ask to see it. As this is going on, the packages are actually in the air crossing the border. All the packages that are cleared continue on thier way. The red flagged ones are shipped from the airprot the plane touched down on to customs.

Some of the things that throw up flags are desciptions that could be restricted items. Although Megs does violate toy safetly laws, there are no restrictions on toys that ship to the US. Therefore, even if inspected, it will come through. Have you ever heard of someone specifically getting a Megs caught in customs? Because if a package is held, the shipping company ( FedEx, UPS, etc.. ) will send a notification to the shipper and/or recipient.

These rumors about customs holding Megatrons are unfounded. Most likely they were thrown around to explain why BBTS didn't offer the toy. Then again, crated shipments by boat may be different. As I said, I am unaware of that. But most likely it goes by the same method. After all, Digital-Toys did sell them. Customs just checks for prohibited items as far as they are concerned. They couldn't care less about toy safety laws.

To be safe, just make sure it's sent by air and you'll have no problems getting your Megatron. Use FedEx and I'll guarantee it ( or rather, they will. ). I've ordered 3 at different times and got them all no problem.. ( 2 I have, 1 belongs to Weirdwolf. )

Been watching this forum for awhile and finally registered.

As for this particular topic, I JUST ordered 06 Megatron from http://www.action-hq.com/cgi-bin/action-hq/ and got it completely fine, right here in California.

If G1 Megs can make it into CA - and you know why I single out this particular state - then it shouldn't be a hastle for anybody.

Hope it helps,

msmjr

I just got a Megaplex off eBay. It was MISB, but the tape job on the sides was suspicious (it looked like it had been opened a few times and retaped on each side). I had to open it up to see if Mega was tampered with. Long story short, it was probably a substandard (using a BBTS term) item that a store opened to retape b/c the inserts had been damaged during shipping.

I transformed him once to make sure he was ok (someone recently posted a thread along the line of receiving Megs damaged). Megaplex is all gray which makes him look more solid in alt mode. With Megs the gray barrel and trigger look out of place with no chrome. Plus without the chrome, you can play with Megaplex all you want without worrying about chipping or fingerprints! The packaging is kind of a disapointment due to the plastic inserts. If the box is C10, then it will be nice and shiny. But mine has all kinds scraches and rubbings on it, so it looks awful (I am pretty picky huh!) But Megaplex is cool nonetheless.

I would rank it

1. Megaplex

2. Black Megs, http://mykooltoyz.tripod.com/blackmegatron.html

3. Collection Megs

I actually think that the original P-38 looks the best, but I have yet to actually see one in person. Here is a pic though, http://www.microforever.com/MC12Gunrobo.htm

If you guys want I can reopen him and post pics...

  • 3 months later...

i got mine at wizard world last yr for $95, in my opinion he was worth every penny

I got my Takara reissue Megs off EBay for about 110, but that also included the reissue smokescreen as well...

Same here! I got it from a guy in Hong Kong, or, somewhere in the area I believe... It came through post to my place (in Canada) without any troubles... Had fun scaring my roomate first time he came home with it...  :clap
