ALTERNATOR SWERVE! WTF!

Recommended Posts

Hasbro probably had to change the name cuz of copyright issues....

Trademark. You can't "copyright" a name, otherwise Hasbro could sue you for typing down the name "Optimus Prime".

as I'm sure this is a Hasbro testshot and not a takara one. Just my opinion that I'm throwing out there for discussion.

Of course it is. When was the last time you've seen a Takara test shot oustside an official Japanese magazine report?

Okay, it's official: the Alternators line has jumped the shark.

:pfx

...Unless this is an exclusive.

It ain't no Kitbash though. Has P. Prime EVER been wrong?

It's like there's no point to this release at all. After Ravage, the S2000 repaint not being Rumble, the Tracks mold not being reused for WHEELJACK, The Grim mold not being reused for Shockwave.......I just don't know. Maybe HasTak's trying to get us mad?

(I'm not usually whiny..........but this is getting kind of annoying.)

and this would be the first time theyve gone and t'd off us tf fans ?!?!?!?!

Doesnt suprise me in the least there gonna kill a good thing like the alts. no wonder HasbroHasbroHasbroHasbroHasbro doesnt make money

note for hasbro: REPAINTS NOT GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You did it to energon, armada, universe and now prolly the best thing theyve done in years and there gonna do it to alts. :tdown

if this is real. HASBRO USE A CHARACTER WE KNOW!!!

totally off topic the name ratchet is being used in that new dreamworks film "Robots". hopefully that won't mean it wont be used in the tf movie

Well, I wanted to clarify a little. Remember in Japan that all the Transformers stories are interconnected in one way or another - so having BW2 Thrust show up in Binaltech isn't too much of a stretch - particularly if you're already having Beast Wars era Time Travel. It's all connected, though in a very bizzare and convoluted way.

All the people who really know about the Japanese series (meaning those who actually speak Japanese and have some contacts at Takara, not the sort who go by their shoddy memories of what they read at some obscure website five years ago) agreed that Japanese Car Robots is not connected to Japanese G1/Beast Wars, and Micron Densetsu/Superlink is a different story again.

In the US, meanwhile, there's "Universe" connecting the various timelines, Hasbro's position that there's "only one Unicron for all realities", and from what I heard about the Collector's Club exclusive comic, Vector Prime also travelled all the various realities.

So, would you please care to explain me how exactly Car Robots, Micron Densetsu/Superlink and G1/Beast Wars are connected to each other in Japan?

Is the Transformers line so fudged up that creators need time travel and alternate realities to explain what's going on?

Yes. Yes it is. Does anybody else miss G1 now? :tflaugh

Um.... no.

:D

And you draw this conclusion from what evidence exactly?

Yup, because

a) they force you to buy the repaints and

b) casting new molds is so much cheaper than repainting an existing mold.

Seriously, I sometimes have to wonder about people... One might think that whenever Hasbro don't put out the most original, inventive, sophisticated and beautiful toy in existence, they're cash-grabbing devils. :roll

Repaints can be cool.

I'd be perfectly happy if Hasbro and Takara dropped everything else and just made minibots in whatever crazy colour schemes they could think of.

Actually...I wouldn't. Bad enough getting what's already out there.

But, as far as this thread goes, more seriously, naming this toy Swerve is heresy as bad as naming a Laser Cycle 'Soundwave'.

Here's a novel thought: how about coming up with new names and new characters?

Aww, come on, you have to admit, at least there was no time travel, riddiculous "fake science" like "electrum" or shrinking robots, or robots turning into humans, or any crazy made up crap to explain inconsistencies like mass-shifting or where Prime's trailer went. And all of the toys were completely show accurate, like Ratchet, and they never used the wrong name for a toy from the show either... RIB/FIR, just like always.

Hmm... um, maybe not.

But hey, at least Ravage had a useful alt mode... why would anyone want to turn into a Corvette when they could turn into a mini-cassette? I mean, really, what good is it to turn into a car, anyway? That's a dumb idea. None of the other Transformers turned into... oh, wait a minuite...

Umm, I gotta go, I think I left the stove on. :wave

Just for those who dont know the Soundeave Lazer Cycle was never released, and as for the name its not actually that bad, he was a Harley and those things are rediculously noisey (I know my bloody neighbour used to fire his up on a sunday morning untill I pointed out the error of his ways) so it is logical name albeit no relation to G1

Well...ehhhh...ok. I'll give you that one, barely ;)

And then I'll compare the Swerve heresy with the Spychanger Megatron and Soundwave heresy.

Bah, it's all heresy.

COME UP WITH NEW NAMES AND CHARACTERS ALREADY!! It's enough to make one think Hasbro dun give a rat's tail about the franchise...

THAT's a good idea!

Instead of (possibly) using random tertiary character for some of these straight repaints, I think I'd be happier if Hasbro wrote out an actual story for the Alts and then just made up brandy-new characters for the repaints.

Maybe the repaints could make up of a third faction (new faction symbols are always fun). A faction of humans who insert their minds into copies of the already created Con and Bot bodies. (no, I won't let that idea go)

If they're going to do straight repaints they can at least hire a single writer, ala Binaltech, to tie them all together in some cool way.
