Actually, wasn't the Go-Bots cartoon done by Hanna-Barbera?

Gobots is a legal Mess all its own, In the US Hasbro technecly owns the gobots, but in japan, there eastern counterpaqrt Machiene Robo Rescue(Hasbrow owns the term Machiene Robot Rescue force or something similor) is still going strong, and Bandai owns that,, pluss you have ty\he Jap cartoon, and the comics, not to mention Hasbrows curtent line Go-Go-Gobots

The Changeatrons, Plumbots, Sparkamus Prime, and Gleepimus Maxmus, are the closist things were gonna get :P

X-Bob, you will be credited for those names...them coupled with "parody" could get you pretty far. ;)

The Changatrons, and Plumbots were in the Epp of sealab, where it was declared the sovorign nation of Sealabia, Heshtopia, Sparkopilus, and Finlin, followed suit, Sparkimus Prime was from the Epp where Qquin built robot bodys for everyone, and gave there real bodies to mice, Gleepimus Maximus was freom the epp. where Murphy merged with the Gleeps

Even better!...now the show has some established, "legal" characters and can be considered a spin-off,

As long as it wasn't anything stupid like OP becoming a lawyer or hosting a talk show. I hate Harvey Birdman. Something more like Sealab would be in order, I would think, with the Autobots hanging around the Ark maybe.

:pfx

but with a twist...

While sipping too much energon, Grimlock starts showing off to Arcee, she giggle with interest (cause chicks like her have always had a thing for stupid buff guys). Optimus get jealous and challenges Grimlock to a dual, hand weapons only (battle axe vs. sword). Grimlock swings at Prime, Prime side steps, BumbleBee not paying attention to his surrounding wanders in too close and get his head loped off.

Yep, I'd watch it.

I like the concepts and ideas you are all proposing but with Transformers as huge as it is now I can't see Hasbro wanting to spoof one of there top selling properties anytime soon. And all the copyrights involved with eveything from Silver Hawks to M.A.S.K. and what have you it's enough to give one a migrain headache. One thing I've always wondered though is how the hell did 20th century Fox aquire permision to use Optimus Prime in a spoof/cameo in Family Guy. Don't get me wrong, loved the ep and thought it was hilarious but leagally how did they do this?

As for a spoof Gobots and Rocklords all the way. :thumb

The character OP is a public entity (don't know the proper title) and thus can be used for the sake of a parody. That's why you could make up some lame characters (like in "SeaLab") and get away with using them.

The term is "Public Domain". Things that have been around for awhile are subject to this. Their copyrights pretty much become null and void up to a certain point, allowing them to be used for parodies. You cannot, however, have a continuous show, or series featuring said parodies. Once, maybe twice, that's it.

Also, there are laws protecting people who create parodies. Weird Al knows alot about this, as well he should. He doesn't even have to get permission from the singers of the songs he uses, he just does so to be polite.

I think a parody would be quite funny, but only once or twice. Something like Perfect Hair and that's it. It would start to bring down the series, in my mind, if every decision Optimus made was the wrong one, and all the Autobots poked fun at him for it. It's not something I would enjoy seeing. Part of the reason why I have problems with Bootleg's fic.

Hey, someone said fanfics are technically illegal. What's the number again? :tfevil
