Alternator Skids as a Ford Focus

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Just thought I would post some pics of my Skids custom. I started him a while ago but when I encountered some issues I put him away in a draw for a while. @ weeks ago I started looking at him again and now he nears completion. He is basically a heavily reworked alternators Smokescreen with a die cast Ford Focus SVT body mounted to it. All he needs doing now is a bit of painting, the doors attaching meister style and a handle attached to the roof so it can act as a shield. Will post bigger and better pictures when he is complete but just a couple of teasers from my phone camera in the meantime. Let me know what you think

modifications include:

head remold with chin and horns removed, antennae and ears added.

reversed shoulders so wheels facing forward.

complete chest replacement

reverse legs and complete lower leg resculpt

3 weapons made from alt smokescreen and reissue smokescreen parts.

Hey Bluestreak is there any way to use the inner hinge piece from Smokescreen to make it so that the hood can be brought down? It would look much better.

wow thats pritty cool, im looking forward to seing it finished

That's cool.

I hope to see it done.

Hey thats cool, hope the hood/bonnet will be closed when it is finished ;)

It would have been way too complicated to work the hinge so that the hood closes so I reluctantly went for the current look. It's grown on me actually as it makes it appear different to current alternators out there, which I guess was one of my main aims for the project. Will post more pics when I can guys.

I do have a suggestion as to how you could make the hood close. If you take some thin styrene and cut it to the same shape as the current hinges, then put holes in it where the hatch would connect so it could swing open, then cut the hood where the hatch should go, sand down the original hatch and attatch your new hatch to the old hatch making sure to line it up just right. Please note I`ve never done this myself but it looks like that is how it could be accomplished.

Thanks for the suggestion rodimus, I think I'll see how it looks when finished and then maybe consider any alterations. Also, the hood is die cast and cutting straight on the curves could be tricky. Also, attaching the new hinges to the new hatch may be difficult. Thanks again.

I found a pic of skids from the US comic which is kind of the look I was hoping for. I was going to try this with the roof/windscreen but the hood kind of looks like the shade above his head in this pic.

That's a very cool representaion of Skids. Can't wait to see it finished.
