A new TF series means one thing...

Good dubbing = good show

Good dubbing - kids + Homages = excellent  show

homages suck.

Homages ruin the individual progression of a show, because sh*theads keep requiring the show to do something that ANOTHER SHOW ALREADY DID.

Keep your homages to yourself, and keep the show with a human element...Humans are cool. In case you didn't notice, we are humans...I think some of you are so pathetic, you'd rather be a giant robot than a human, that's why you hate them in the show.

I disagree that a show or movie needs humans to appeal to humans. For example, I thought the characters in Finding Nemo were more human than many of the human characters in other movies. It's all about how well the characters are written. It would be fully possible to have a show with Transformers who were well written enough for people to identify with.

And I don't think hating the humans is a self esteem issue, Most of the time, the kids are written even more poorly than the Transformers themselves, which is often very poor to begin with.

Very well said Admiral. I have nothing against human characters.

I would love to see well written human characters.

Human characters can really add a lot to a show, they can show us how people (that we can relate to) would be reacting in situations, and in the case of transformers allow for a sense of powerlessness among these giant metal machines.

UNFORTUNATELY, human characters have NOT been written that way. The FIRST season Spike is probably the closest, and even then I was constantly dissapointed at how "in the way" he and chip were.

Humans (when next to an unknown alien race) should react logically. Curiosity, fear, distrust, friendship etc. And LOGICALLY, the humans that would be interacting with a new alien race would be the military/scientists and government officials. NOT your average 6 year old.

I feel that until human characters are written logically into a TF series, they belong as far in the background as possible.

I have more to say, but I'm trying really hard to watch my warn level.

Everybody stay frosty.

Oh and on an intresting note, how many Canadians here like G1 the best? I was just looking at the previous posts and noticed that we seem to prefer G1 over any other series. Even over our own produced BW\BM :eek

I think Simon Furman should be approached for any future Transformer series. Then again, i think Transformers should be animated by the same animation studio that did Cowboy Bebop...

Why don't any of them get a transforming space suit anymore?  I don't get it, then at least they "become" a transformers, sorta.. and we can collect those toys too.  And maybe these suit can combine and form "Kidditron" or smthing...

Just shoot me.

because human characters in a TF toyline don't sell well. the only reason the kids are there is because anime storylines tend to be character driven and it's easier for the japanese writers to apply characterization to humans than TF's.

so thats the reason they put in the kids and the autobots in armada seemed to have little or no personallity :thumb

seriously though the kids need to go, spike was tollerable because he at least had some intelligence and actually helped the autobots on many occasions (eg desertion of the dinobots) but kids like Carlos :redface they really are just like Jar Jar Binks.

put the development on the tfs more than the humans and get proffesional writers for the episodes and we will get something special

it's not that the japanese writers aren't professionals, it's just that the current tf animes are made in japan first so they are designed to appeal to a japanese audience and the japanese in general have trouble relating to sentient giant mecha. the japanese prefer their giant mecha to be piloted by a human and TF's are pretty much the only exceptions to this rule.

I'm going to reserve judgment on the kids until I see the show. Although I have a feeling that like Superlink/Energon its going to lose somthing in the dub.

I am wondering if the kids are going to stay on Earth or if there going to go with the bots to the other planets, and how there going to explain that.

On humans... I'm not too keen.

I like Kicker, he's the highlight of Energon to me, which probably isn't such a great thing, considering the show should be more about the TFs really.

On Gonzo, they're pretty good. Hit or miss it seems, but hey, as long as it's at least decent, I'd be happy.

Seen the previews? Particularly that Starscream missile-dogfight. That was a pretty good. Sort of hope they'll keep it like that. You know... Starscream dodging missiles, then got hit and started crashing, but pulled himself out at the last minute. The cool thing was, he didn't seem able to fly in robot mode, that's cool to me.

Then there's that hyperspace sequence where Optimus fights Starscream, he landed a couple of melee blows. Gosh, I hope they'll have some Masterforce melee action in GF.

So anyway, humans are a necessary evil. It's not like anyone really identifies with them. From the preview, the chick is gonna be another testosterony bossy lady, and that blond kid's mannerisms leads me to belief he'll be the pre-requisite obnoxious brat. Personally, never really encountered such personality types in my school mates back in my school days. But showmakers seem to think they're typical and identifiable personality types, so... oh well.

At least the toys look really really nifty.

Incidently, despite this being Gonzo, I still can't quite see why the GF chick is refered to as service. Heh, maybe it's just me, but to quote a friend in regards to her being the resident Gonzo fanservice "Fanservice? Sure, if you're a Victorian."

I am wondering if the kids are going to stay on Earth or if there going to go with the bots to the other planets, and how there going to explain that.

of course they're going to go with the bots everywhere they go. as for explaining it:

Kids: "Optimus, we want to come with you!"

Optimus: "OK, get in the ship."

...like any reason they come up with is going to be any more believable :tftongue

Optimus: Put on these suits, so you won't did and stuff, even thoguhthey don't even cover your hair.
