- I said 1/72 would ahve been an ideal size for Alt jets some time ago

Expect those royalties checks any day now from Hasbro. :thumb

Whooo hoooo

;)

...Although the blue S2000 could be Rumble also, depending on whether they go toy-accurate or show accurate. So my million spacebucks is on either of these guys.

I bet 50 clams HasTak pics some one we never thought of like they did with B.Ravage and Shockwave.

:pfx im hoping for runamuck or runabout and the other stunticons

The entire beast wars and beast machines line I just detest.  They look cheap, they don't look good on the shelf, and well....I hate them.

They look a lot better than those old-ass G1 bricks you got on your shelf. :D You need to do youself a favor and buy some Beast Wars DVDs.

Not that it happens often, but I disagree, with you, LM. Beast Wars toys look okay, but I prefer the quirky "bricks" of G1 as they seem somehow more artistic in nature to me. And I did go out and buy some Beast Wars DVDs, and it helped a little bit. Now I don't hate Beast Wars toys like I used to. But I still prefer G1 over teh Beasties.

I guess the best way to explain it would be to try and imagine a high budget sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show. Or better yet, the 2000 remake of Godzilla.

The original line had the unexpected cult classic status. It was a low budget gamble, and it paid off bigtime. Every line since has felt like an attempt to capitalize on what they assume was the appeal of the originals, i.e. the transformation gimmick. "Robot to something other than a robot." They fail to see that it's so much more than that. And like with Star Wars, you may be able to take technological leaps and bounds, and come up with a product that is vastly superior to the original in nearly every way, yet the original still has a place in our hearts that can never fully be taken over. Most hardcore Starwars fans will say that the original trilogy was far better than the new one. The TF fanbase is far more divided on that, when applied to G1 vs. the other lines, but that may be in part to the many different reasons people like TFs, as well as the time frame at which they discovered TF's. Just my personal take on the topic.

Oh, and Alt jets to scale with the other Alts in bot mode is where it's at. We've finally got a line with bot height consistency, let's not let 'em botch it all up over small jets. Hell, the G1 seekers are too big in jet mode to easily display on a shelf. God forbid if I have six Alt seekers all the size of Jetfire... I like my TF's in the house, not the garage. :tflaugh

I'll take the Transmetals figures over G1 any day of the week. Those figures are some of the best ones Hasbro ever produced IMO.

On toy quality and play value, I agree 100%. As for total package cool factor, it will always be G1 for me.

I can see the appeal of pretty much all of the other lines, so I'm not a fanatic G1 purist by any means, and I usually try consciously not to flame the other toys that I might not care so much for, because I know and accept that I am biased, and probably in the minority. Transmetals are cool, some are very cool. Eventually I'll probably own a few. But when it comes to preference, I'll still take my toy gun Megatron and totally inarticulate combiners over a Dragon, or a T-rex, or a Tank, and a bunch of repaint-limbed gestalts with transparent feet and hands (Energon reference, for those who don't follow my sporatic mentality and may have thought I was reffering to a Transmetal combiner, if there ever was one) any day.

Really, though, the only bad transformer is a Go-Bot.

Or Wheelie.

Well I'll be remaining highly skeptical so as not to be made the fool over this, but if the bit about the Alternators is true it will be, without a doubt, the best Transformers (or toy) news EVER.

My question, though, is whether or not these planes would have to resemble real-life planes in terms of paint apps. If in keeping with the rest of the Alt line, then yes, these molds would need to have realistic color schemes. This becomes a problem, as no real planes that I have seen have ever resembled Skyfire, Sunstorm, Starscream, etc.

Also, I think the Ironhide remold, should it come to pass, should be Motormaster!

Skywarp's easy as you could just use a black F-117 and have the purple in his robot mode. This would probably be how they do the others as well, a plain grey fighter plane for Starscream, with red and blue robot parts. Sunstorm is really the only one that can't be done this way.

Although, a USAF Thunderbird paint scheme could also pass for Starscream - and the USN Blue Angel scheme could be used for Thundercracker.

HEY!! I posted this info first. I just accidently put in General Discussion.

Actually I don't care who posted first, I'm just Goofin'

But technically I posted it first :bounce :bounce
