Grain of salt guys, grain of salt. The timing is *somewhat* correct. But at the same time, it all throws up a few flags. There is such a thing as too good to be true. Some parts are way more believable than others.

Wait till Toyfair. Or one of Takara's appearances.

They look a lot better than those old-ass G1 bricks you got on your shelf. :D You need to do youself a favor and buy some Beast Wars DVDs.

I'm 31. Although I have bought the G1 TV Series for nostalgic purposes, and I watch Energon Episodes on the Internet with my son...watching Beast Wars cartoons to make the toys more palatable is just worthless. I respect the fact that some like the line. But the low resale value of the toys is indication that I'm not in the minority here.

As for being in scale with Robot mode. I can appreciate that point of view,...however the Alt line more than any other has given kudos to realizm. Featuring that line and having scaled cars and then tiny planes just to make the robot modes equal in my opinion lessens some of the greatness of this line. Also...in almost every respect...autobots have always been somewhat weaker than decepticons. There have always been fewer decepticons. Having them be "bigger" than the autobots in robot size makes sense to me as it takes the autobots working together(the whole energon powerlinx concept) to overtake the decepticons. That may be going out on a limb,...but it is explainable. That and,...Jetfire was just so cool in size and stature. Wouldn't it be awesome to have some seekers that are even more realistic than he in that scale?

My two cents. I'm still thankful and will still purchase the smaller scale airplane alts...just not with as much enthusiasm as I could have had ...had they been bigger.

meh, i'll never understand this obsession with the seekers. I like the fact that the deceps will be planes but i have a feeling this means that everyone from Motormaster to Soundwave will be jets instead of Thundercracker/Dirge/Skywarp etc...

Which is fine but you can't have scale in both modes, that would be a marvel of engineering. So as i said before, i think the robot mode is more important. And fanboy (not meant to be insulting, just a term we use around here to describe "Explanations") reasons why they should be bigger doesn't make it more appealing.

The entire beast wars and beast machines line I just detest.  They look cheap, they don't look good on the shelf, and well....I hate them.

Not that it happens often, but I disagree, with you, LM. Beast Wars toys look okay, but I prefer the quirky "bricks" of G1 as they seem somehow more artistic in nature to me. And I did go out and buy some Beast Wars DVDs, and it helped a little bit. Now I don't hate Beast Wars toys like I used to. But I still prefer G1 over teh Beasties.

I guess the best way to explain it would be to try and imagine a high budget sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show. Or better yet, the 2000 remake of Godzilla.

The original line had the unexpected cult classic status. It was a low budget gamble, and it paid off bigtime. Every line since has felt like an attempt to capitalize on what they assume was the appeal of the originals, i.e. the transformation gimmick. "Robot to something other than a robot." They fail to see that it's so much more than that. And like with Star Wars, you may be able to take technological leaps and bounds, and come up with a product that is vastly superior to the original in nearly every way, yet the original still has a place in our hearts that can never fully be taken over. Most hardcore Starwars fans will say that the original trilogy was far better than the new one. The TF fanbase is far more divided on that, when applied to G1 vs. the other lines, but that may be in part to the many different reasons people like TFs, as well as the time frame at which they discovered TF's. Just my personal take on the topic.

Oh, and Alt jets to scale with the other Alts in bot mode is where it's at. We've finally got a line with bot height consistency, let's not let 'em botch it all up over small jets. Hell, the G1 seekers are too big in jet mode to easily display on a shelf. God forbid if I have six Alt seekers all the size of Jetfire... I like my TF's in the house, not the garage. :tflaugh

Beast Wars ended in 1999. Beast Machines ended in 2001. They're not vintage toys like the G1 figures are. What do you expect? Go to the TF GD forum sometime and you'll get a more reliable indicator of what people think about Beast Wars.

I'll take the Transmetals figures over G1 any day of the week. Those figures are some of the best ones Hasbro ever produced IMO.

As per our short attention span generation I thought I would try approaching my post A la the new star wars cartoon I.E bite sized (actually I hurt my fingers snowboarding ;))

- Beleive it when i see it (I hope the Alt news is true

- Beast Transformers suck ;)

- I said 1/72 would ahve been an ideal size for Alt jets some time ago

- I couldnt care less how much they cost ;)

Rockin'! The blue S2000 is Frenzy, I bet a million spacebucks. The red pickup MUST be Ironhide, and I'll bet its the Mitsubishi Raider thats basically a rebadged Dodge Dakota. And the jet/chopper Alts will rock ass too!

...Although the blue S2000 could be Rumble also, depending on whether they go toy-accurate or show accurate. So my million spacebucks is on either of these guys.

Expect those royalties checks any day now from Hasbro. :thumb
