Here is a possible problem with the Whole Alternators/BTs line...

They really can't go out and expand on the types of vehicles they do. Most trucks, suv's and vans aren't really what Hasbro wants to do. If you look the 1:24th scale makes it impossible for many larger vehicles to be done, they can't fit within the standards of the Alt boxes. And they have already reduced the size of boxes. Plus it costs more in materials and such.

Many trucks and SUV's will NEVER be made because they won't fit into the boxes and have a small dimension enough to get made. And many of these Hummers, SuperDuties and whatnot would never fit in those boxes and let alone the cost of materials if they were truly 1:24th scale. I don't think Hasbro is gonna even bother with it and it's gonna be an almost straight car line with a few, very few, SUV's thrown. Vans also aren't gonna be very good for the current way Hasbro is doing it. The vans would have to be very compact.

Sorry, but that's a stupid reason to not make something. "Sorry, sir, but we can't make this new product because the boxes we have? They're not big enough."

"Well, monkeys, there goes THAT idea!"

That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. You should be ashamed of yourself. ASHAMED!

That said, I don't know about you guys, but I would GLADLY pay 20 to 30 dollars MORE for an Alternator of Scourge, Optimus Prime, or any other figure that's not a damned sportscar.

I still want them to produce a Starscream, from a JET, not a car.

I trade for all different eras, but I only buy Alternators and other G1 remakes from other lines, e.g. E. Shockblast, RM Prime and Starscream, WST's, etc...Alternators are the bulk of my buying, and the only line I'd say I collect. Buying them leads me to buy the others outside the line. If they stop making the Alts I likely won't be buying any TFs, besides the upcoming movie ones, for a while.

The fact that I collect the Alt line almost exclusively does not mean that I am not getting bored of the similar/same transformations, licensed cars only, 1 size only, etc...Those things will need to change for me to keep buying them. I only buy them selectively as it is (by car model, bot form, etc...).

I realize that HasTak didn't intend for the line to last as long as it has and therefore will forgive them when the line suffers a Deadend/Sunstreaker, or Ravage incident, and no real derivations from the main concept, but the design of the line itself (not specific models) should be back on track by the Summer, and by design of the line, I mean decisions on how to make it evolved from what it is now.

Even though they had no plans for it to extend this long doesn't mean that they get a free pass to let creativity fall by the wayside, an stretch it out unchnged indefinitely.

ONCE AGAIN...

It was only a thought and I might not have said it well enough to get my point across, I might have lacked the ability to express what I truly meant.

My point isn't that they can't make new larger toys because they can't fit in a stupid box of cardboard...my point is that with cost of Materials and the way that INSTEAD of giving us larger toys, they reduced the size of their boxes and have made NO ATTEMPT as of yet to give us anything larger than cars. And Hound doesn't count, simply because he is the same dimensions needed for consistency.

And Hound doesn't count, simply because he is the same dimensions needed for consistency.

Is Hound a different scale than the rest (1:24)? He's always seemes a little "off" to me...

here is a question... how many of you ONLY collect Alt/BTs?

I do. I'm a few behind but to catch up soon. I agree that some more variety is good to keep it fresh.

NO ATTEMPT "as of yet" to give us anything larger than cars.

And that's the key right there. "As of yet".

There's certainly no reason they can't do it, they just haven't yet. The line is still fairly young, and there are many things we may yet to see. An Optimus and Megs Alternator perhaps? A TV show based on the line done by Mainframe. Just the thought of that makes me giddy! There's plenty of time for change in this line of toys.

....did I just say giddy?

They can make bigger boxes. :thumb

Example: Unicron!

I don't think the alternator line should be cancelled, but it does need change. Someone suggested original decept molds, and I would agree with that.

I collect every series, not just BT/Alt

Larger sized Alt's are unlikely because the cost of larger die-cast BTs would be too high. the current size is $50 or so. A mega-size alternator would probably be near $75 or more. Who would pay that?

I think a better change to the alt line, if military modes are out of the question, would be combiners. Granted, we already have a Dead End, but if they redid him, and release all the other components capable of combining into Menasor, who here wouldn't buy them?

In my own personal opinion I think the release of the Alts/Binaltech line was the best thing to happen to the TF legend. The toy line is no longer the old box style TF the Alt/Binaltech line has given them new life and for me its a breath of fresh air. I think the release of MP Prime started this whole thing because when he got released the Alt/Binal line just took off. But the question I have is are they all going to be car modes? Hasbro and Takara have to come out with some other ideas like planes, Suvs just to name a few. I know Hound is a jeep but they have to expand. Like I said before as long as Hasbro and Takara keep releasing G1 TF and the Alt/Binal tech TF I'll keep buying.
